Should Networkers Be Really Funny? Seriously

Of course, a network marketer should have a sense of humor. People choose to conduct business  with people they like. Being able to make a prospect laugh just adds to increased conversions. The question is, how does someone learn how to be funny?

First of all, what kind of people do you hang out with? Are they negative? Do they bring you down? Do they always want to argue? Do they always want to talk about politics? Do they always want to talk about religion? If you do have funny acquaintances or friends, there is nothing wrong with adapting certain funny qualities to your style. Just don't be fake. No one likes fake and everyone knows when someone is being fake.

You can actually study humor. That is amazing to me. Comedians must have one of the greatest jobs in the world. But really, there is nothing wrong with taking mental notes and learning from comedic movies or performances. Reading funny books can help improve your sense of humor also. So if you take a pen and a notebook to stand up comedy night, sit in the very front. Don't laugh. Just take notes. Actually take a clipboard and use a red pen.

You can study Jimmy Fallon or Conan Obrien. I am not sure about Jay Leno. The bottom line is, in sales, marketing, or prospecting you have got to be a people person.

The reason people study humor is because they want to be better at sensing humor. Delivery and timing plays a big part of having a real sense of humor. It is important to be comfortable with your sense of humor. An awkward personality can seriously backfire.

In network marketing especially respect is crucial. You don't want to strong arm a prospect into buying by using an insulting Andrew Dice Clay or Bill Maher type of humor. If you are going to make fun of someone then make fun of yourself. You never know what type of humor people have so it is good to play it safe. Plus the best comedians in my opinion are not mean and insulting.

It is good to keep humor on you mind. Think funny. Laughing is healthy and humor can help you increase sales. It helps you smile. It gives you a really positive outlook on the day. Customers and coworkers usually avoid negativity and angry people. Don't be angry. Be funny.
