Tips for Driving Traffic from Sites like Facebook and Twitter
Social media has become the “Holy Grail” for those trying to drive traffic to their websites. With the ability to find prospects for their business opportunity for free, social media has become a huge funnel for business hype and claims of financial freedom. Unfortunately, not many network marketers know how to drive traffic successfully. An emotion of believing that they have the best business opportunity on the face of the earth forces them to want to bring everyone they come across into their opportunity. This emotion of excitement causes spamming on sites like Twitter and Facebook. Social media is a wonderful tool if used correctly and not used to become that one person that only talks about the same thing over and over.
Here are just a few tips on how to use social media sites like Facebook and Twitter correctly:
Social Media Do’s and Don’ts:
Never -
- Keep posting the same business opportunity over and over on social media sites. This will automatically label you as a spammer and on many social media sites. The admin of these sites may decide to close your account due to spamming.
- Post your business opportunity on other people’s walls or pages unless asked to. This goes especially for those individuals that send links to people they have just met on sites like Facebook with their business opportunity.
- Try to market your business opportunity to everyone that crosses your path on social media. Many people will become annoyed by this approach and will remove you from their list of friends or followers.
- Post updates with a link that is not relevant to the update. For example, inspirational and motivational quotes are used often in social media. Attaching a link to your business opportunity to a quote that is irrelevant will cause you to not only seem unprofessional, but also as someone that is only out for the money and not to provide value and leadership to others.
Always –
- Build a relationship with new friends and followers on social media. Your goal is for others to get to know you in more detail so as they can make a decision for themselves as to whether you are someone that is honest, trustworthy, and dedicated to the success of others.
- Drive your friends and followers to your blog page instead of directly to your website landing page. Your blog serves as the central nervous system for your marketing efforts. Here you can post about what business opportunity you are involved with. If they are interested, how they can become a part of it as well.
- Post information that will be considered valuable to those friends and followers that are involved in network marketing. An example would be posting information regarding “How-To” do certain marketing strategies and your personal experience with those specific strategies.
- Leave comments on other’s posts and provide them with positive feedback. On sites like Twitter, RT’s(re-tweets) are a great way to build relationships with others. Re-tweeting someone’s post also increases that person’s online presence, eventually helping them with their efforts online.
- On Facebook, post videos and pictures of yourself or others you are directly involved with in order to provide others with further information as to who you are and what you do. Let others decide for themselves as to whether they would like to receive further information.

Tips For Driving Traffic
I totally agree with everything you say, you are right on target. I've made the exact mistakes you talk about. However, you did a NO NO! You said to drive traffic to your blog first and not your landing page. I clicked on your link and guess where it took me...to a landing page. Other than that little error, your report was superb!!
RE: Tips For Driving Traffic
Thanks for the comment Judith. You are absolutely right about my link. My apologies regarding this error. It was something I overlooked as I was writing the article. It gets hard sometimes to concentrate on details after a long day of activities and your mind is running on "E". ;-) Thanks for pointing this out, I will correct it ASAP.

New -Excellent Article
Thanks Pablo,
This article came at the right time for me as I am new to social media; I am really getting addicted to it. You just save me a lot of time that could have been wasted. I do have a question though, when you are commenting on some's wall because he or she accepted as a friend (talking about Facebook), is it ok to post a link right below your signature(at the end of your comment? the link is driving that person to a landing page for some free information. Please advise
Link Below Signature
Thanks for the great comment Douglas. About your question, adding a link below your signature when commenting on a "New" friend's wall is OK as long as it takes them to your personal blog page or something relevant. This way that new friend can get to know you better and you can build rapport with that person. I still believe that adding a capture page link to a "Thank You" message is spamming and something you definitely shouldn't do. Build trust and they will follow.
