We, Inc: Leverage the Power of "You, Inc." by Collaborating with Others

Online Collaboration For Business Success
If you want to achieve success in today's web world, one way to make that happen more quickly is to make use of joint ventures and collaborate online with others. As more and more entrepeneurs are going online to build a home-based business, opportunities to work together and leverage the efforts of others are cropping up everywhere.
Joint Ventures used to be associated more with companies than individuals, but the internet has given people just like you the opportunity to create your own corporate identity. "You, inc." refers to the self-branding used by online entrepreneurs to create their own self-sufficient business model. Instead of working for other companies, you can now pick and choose which companies will earn the right to be recommended by you, and they are paying for the privilege.
Technological advances have created the opportunity for even more leverage, by providing tools and resources which make online collaboration easier than ever before. This is not to say that creating joint ventures with others is a simple process, but with the right information and tools, you can begin to leverage the power of "You, Inc." to create "We, Inc." and watch your results skyrocket.
“We, Inc.” Starts with “You, Inc”
Before revealing exactly what “We, Inc.” is and how it works, it is first important to understand “You, Inc.” a little better.
The internet age is changing the face of business. Entrepreneurs who were once limited to building a business in a limited geographical area are now working in a global marketplace. Of course, they must also contend with the fact that their competition is global, as well. This means if you are doing business on the internet you have to get very clear on who you are, what you are offering, and who you are offering it to.
In many cases the only thing differentiating you from another marketer is just that…YOU!
This is especially true if you are in direct sales, affiliate marketing or network marketing. The product doesn’t vary from one distributor to the next, but what you can bring to the table in terms of support and guidance does.
Several training systems have coined the phrase, “You, Inc.” to reflect the fact that you must demonstrate to your potential customers and business partners why you are their best choice.
But many people think “You, Inc.” means you have to do it all by yourself. In reality, the internet has allowed the business landscape to evolve in new and exciting ways which make it possible for you to share the workload with others. Online Collaboration is rapidly becoming THE way to do business, because it offers a way to leverage your efforts while still maintaining a sense of individuality.
Why “You, Inc.” Doesn’t Work for Many People
A common mistake some internet marketers make when trying to define their “You, Inc.” is they try to be all things to all people. They want to present themselves as the expert on everything from affiliate marketing to email campaigns to websites. All this while still trying to promote their primary business.
The truth of the matter is, no one can know everything, and to try to cover all the bases makes them an expert at nothing.
These marketers get lost in a sea of other marketers trying to make a splash while shouting the same message. You can avoid this costly mistake by understanding how collaboration among entrepreneurs is being used effectively in the internet age.
“We, Inc.” Leverages the Power of “You, Inc.” to Make it Work for You
One of the ultimate goals in business is to achieve leverage.
You achieve leverage when your efforts are matched, and even surpassed, by the efforts of others and those efforts benefit you directly. By the way, the internet can be included in this, because it is something other than you which is creating this leverage for you. Your goal is to maximize your leverage in everything you do.
“You, Inc” is a great starting point, because it helps to define your niche.
Your niche is your specialty, or what makes you unique. If you don’t have a Unique Selling Proposition yet, then you’d better get one, and fast. Once you’ve figured out what your “You, Inc.” really is, it is time maximize your leverage with it, and make it work for you.
A great way to do this is to collaborate with others.
By teaming up with other “You, Inc.” businesses, collectively you create “We, Inc.”, and it is the ultimate leverage tool for internet marketers, when done properly. There are some key points to follow:
- Everyone’s “You, Inc” fits into the overall “We, Inc.” vision – For example, having a motocross expert team up with a group of basket weavers won’t make much sense, unless he is weaving his own helmets, or something.
- Each “You, Inc.” must contribute to the “We, Inc.” effort – For the group to work, everyone must pull their weight, and add to the efforts of the whole. If everyone does this, the whole will equal more than the sum of the parts.
- “We, Inc.” must allow every “You, Inc.” to shine – In the internet age, branding is everything. Association with the larger group must result in a direct benefit for each “You, Inc.” involved, by allowing each member to market themselves and their business to the larger community.
“We, Inc.” maximizes leverage for everyone involved, and the benefits achieved will far outweigh what can be achieved individually.
Each “You, Inc.” gains more exposure and credibility through the association with the “We, Inc.” collaborative model. Therefore, “We, Inc.” will have more to offer the end-user because of the specialized talent being pooled together to create a stronger end product.
Look around and you’ll notice it happening more and more today.
Authors are writing individual chapters for books, coaching programs are creating pools of specialized coaches to choose from, and network marketers from different companies are working together to maximize both their results and the benefits to the end users.
These are just a few examples of how internet entrepreneurs are leveraging their efforts using online collaboration tools and resources to build powerful joint ventures. Another example is the Super Guide program at Renegade University, which teaches you how to create your own brand of "You, Inc." and then leverage the power of "We, Inc." to achieve much greater results.

Collaborating OnJoint Ventures
This is a great article, Lane. It's also a great reminder that by joining forces with others we can reach far more people than we ever could on our own. The really cool thing is that we aren't competing with each other. We all bring our own strengths to the party and help each others businesses in the process. Awesome job!
Learn from your Joint Venture Partner
I enjoyed you article because you are right to the point. Success comes faster when we joint venture with someone who has the talent or experience in a area we lack.
As We Spoke About
As we spoke about on the phone the other night Lane, "We, Inc" exists throughout our lives...in areas we don't even realize until we focus on them. Take a family for instance...a group of individuals each with their own talents and areas of expertise, contributing the greater whole..creating something even more powerful than the sum of the parts.
Network marketing done right is a perfect "We, Inc" example. In a good company that rewards teamwork, the power of the many creates far more reward for all, then the individual work of any one person.
Great article Lane!

Relationship Marketing at its` Finest.
So, if someone comes to your marketing hub and you engage in a conversation only to realize, that what you have to offer isn`t a perfect fit.
The best service you could offer that person is a referral to another business associate whom you think would have them working more ``in their strength``.
This is We Inc. at its`finest, when marketers are able to pass referrals back and forth making sure that the customer is best served.
The Sum Will Equal More Than the Sum of its Parts.
Lane,
Great article. I think it was Mike Klingler who said that if we continue to work as You, Inc., most of us will struggle. The key to success in internet marketing today is working as We, Inc.
We need to collaborate with others - to form a dream team. I don't have strengths in all areas. I don't even have an interest in all areas. The key factor is to join up with others so that each is doing what he/she does best.
As you said, the whole will equal more than the sum of its parts. The end result will be achieving far more than what the team members could achieve on their own.
Very well stated, Lane.
TEAM
We Inc really reminds me of Together Everyone Achieves More. It is the same concept - fine a Power Partner and learn and feed off of each other. Grow both businesses together and all will succeed. The secret is finding the right business to partner with. I know some Chiropractors that partner with Massage Therapists and both create synergy together and both grow exponentially. Who can be your Power Partner?
Two Heads
"Two heads are better than one". It is always better to work together than against each other. Think of the medical profession - they refer back and forth to each other, for the benefit of their patients, as well as themselves.
Team Work
I hear this all the time, "Team Work Makes the Dream Work". It's so true. Whenever two or more people do anything together, it makes all the difference in the world. The load is lighter, the road seems shorter, the task is smaller.
Team Work, makes the Dream Work!
Exactly
I couldn't agree more. Working together has many benefits--like a lighter load but also the fact that you have partners and peers to bounce ideas and have friends and support.
The New "We, Inc." is Brilliant and a Good Example of It Is...
Hey Lane,
First want to point out how well written and articulated this concept is...you've done a really nice job with this article. I think you could expand this into an ebook if you wanted to put your energy there.
Second, I want to commend you for not just articulating this concept for us here, but for truly believing in it, which is apparent in the energy I've seen you put into Renegade Referrals, which follows the "We, Inc" model.
Lastly, the "We, Inc" is brilliant and a good example is the Renegade Professional Super Guides that Mike Klingler formed early to mid 2008, and has evolved and shaped ever since.

Moving Mountains
This is the great thing about the internet and how it has changed traditional business structures. Everyone now has the option of participating in a collaborative effort with like minded individuals of there choice.
Yes building your YOU,Inc is a necessary task when branding yourself as a leader. But the ultimate success comes from bringing like minded together WE,Inc as you say.
From here it's then a communicative process of moving these like minds in a positive or could be negative, direction to the desired goal of the group.
No one person can do everything, but by collaborating and leveraging individual talents of the group WE,Inc can move mountains.
Working Smarter not Harder
Lane,
Your article is great. I am by nature a team player, not necessarily the one that knows it all but the one that will support, research and produce for the good of the group. Many times this means learning new things but that is what it is all about.
I do enjoy the collaboration with others so that myself and others will grow and find their path in "You Inc." as well.
"We Inc." is a powerful team concept and it does drive creativity and success. It is also very exciting....
Also, thank you for explaining this concept so well, it truly is a new beacon for people to follow.
You and Me = We
I just love joint ventures! I think they have so much value. More than one brain is always better. We bring so much when we bring it together.
I like the point you make when you state we are all doing so many things and you can't be an expert in everything. Your value diminishes.
Thanks Lane, for writing on this new team formation that is serving our clients very well.
Maximize your leverage in Everything You Do.
Lane,
What a thought provoking article. You spell out so clearly things that many of us know but don't DO and you have exlpained this concept so clearly.
The "WE Inc." applies to many aspects in life family, sports teams, communities., health professionals. By working with other people we can all be givers and receivers and everyone benefits.
I love your idea of the Renegade Referrals network. No one can be a specialsit in everything but with collaboration we can help each other and better assist our clients. If you ha ve a broken leg your don't go to an opthamologist!!!
Tips for a Successful Joint Venture Partnership
Great article Lane. JVs are the future of online business and we're seeing more and more examples of it all the time. Renegade Professional and Renegade Referrals are two excellent examples of the power of JVs.
Not all JVs are successful though. Here are a few tips on how to create a successful JV partnership.
- Find the right people with whom to partner. Find people whose skills complement yours, have the right attitude, and with whom you will enjoy working.
- Allow each member of the JV to take on a specific role that leverages everyone's unique talents.
- Take the time to get to know each other. Learn the different personality styles and appreciate that everyone is unique.
- Take the time to plan. Identify the team's vision and goals.
Simply the Best

Examples of "We, Inc" Everywhere
Thanks to everyone who posted here. David, are you from Chicago, by any chance? I noticed you submitted the same comment twice. Haha.
I agree that there are examples of "We, Inc" everywhere, and that, in some ways, the concept is far from new. However, the internet and other technological advances are creating new ways for "We, Inc" groups to form, and this is VERY exciting.
Even this comment thread is an example of "We, Inc", to a small degree, and is made possible by the internet. Everyone brings something unique to the discussion, and they are doing it from all over the world. Each comment could lead the reader to the commenter's profile, so they are leveraging the power of the conversation.
Of course, this is not the only comment thread each person is leaving a comment on, so individuals join a multitude of "We, Inc's" on a daily basis. Some may involve a one-time comment, while others may involve a year or more of dedicated involvement.
The important underlying principle is that individual "You, Inc's" have the power to join and contribute as they see fit, and more on their own terms. Of course, it is still important that there is a give-and-take on all sides, and that is the most challenging dynamic to establish.
Twice is good
Lane
My wife is from Chicago and I often need directions more than once or so I'm told. That may be the subconscious reason for the double posting. The real reason may have been the late hour and not knowing quickly how to delete one. The more I looked at it though, I thought twice was good, not because of what I had to say, but rather your article deserved it.
"We Inc" Most Powerful In MLM
Network Marketing really puts the "we Inc" into perspective. How often are we told that we are business for ourselves but not by ourselves.
The tools are there and those with more experience are leverage tools that we often forget to put into motion.
It's always good to stop and quickly review that basics. It will re-align you to the right path and help you kick out the superfluous.
Better Together and Standing Alone
Lane,
"We" is so much more. The article and comments have said almost everything already.
When you do it all by yourself, it can be kinda lonely and takes so much more time than working in concert with others. Teams and small groups seem to inspire others to move quicker and have better idea development.
Thanks for the article!
We Inc
Lane, what a great article.
You have really written from the heart and expressed what is so important to succeed today in so many areas of our lives.
Well done.
Helping Each Other...
Lane,
What a great concept, "Working together by helping each other" Lane that has a nice ring... I'm loving the concept. "We Inc."
Collaboration of others to create endless possibilities.
Thanks for a great article!
