The 4 Embarrassing Actions You Can Do On Community Business Forums

Read More: Social Networking

Let me introduce to you to four ways of how not to use a forum. It's really simple. What you won't do in a conversation, in life, social, we don't do  it on forums.

I mean, do you see someone talking to his mate about fishing and suddenly someone from nowhere pops out like Popeye the Sailor man with..

"Oh, you should check my Fishing gear. It's the best. It is awesome. It catches Salmon this big. It even catches WHALES and DRAGONS, and VAMPIRES TOO!"

You can see the eyes of people start rolling and wondering..

"Here we go again.."

If you've notice why people are hiding behind their sofa's when you call on them or have this fancy gadget to see it's your number and don't answer - or people blocking you from facebook, then here's why..

1. 'Please Read My Article' dude.

You can see this dude a mile off.

Even if they have been at it for 5 years with no luck. Heck, I got a crappy blogger and I'm getting sales without doing this.

The 'Please Read My Article' dudes steps onto an online forum and creates a thread. Then bangs a link with an added note, that..

"Hey folks. I am so crap at copywriting, headline, keyword research, and my list is down to zero. So, can you help and look at my crappy article and vote, so I can get people to my affiliate link, and make some money for my over due telephone bill.."

2. 'Great Article and I know sod all.'

They see this link that 'Please Read My Article' has posted in the forum and then they go and check it out, and come back, like Ohoooooooooo Silver group, and make a comment..

'Great article. Love that article. Wise words...'

Yeah? Care to share what's great about it then?

Or was it some comment to have your signature be there, because you know this person is going to get whupped big time, and that thread is going to be twice as long as London Bridge!

Imagine, one day you go to betternetworker.com and you see....

'Please Read My Article I posted on the article section.
'Please Read My Article I posted on the article section.'
'Please Read My Article I posted on the article section.'
My company is best thread.

'Please Read My Article I posted on the article section.'
'Please Read My Article I posted on the article section.'
My product is best thread.

'Please Read My Article I posted on the article section.'
'Please Read My Article I posted on the article section.

Then what?

I tell you what.

It's over.

The forum will be dead and it be like some western cowboy movie ghost town. It's value decreased and everyone suffers.

It would go down under and the money the forum makes from a paid member community and advertising space, the traffic would dissappear as fast as me eating my awesome top star pizza's.

Munch...munch...GONE!

3. It's called 'Sneak it in.'

They come in pretending they don't know about the rules. They must think people are daft or what. You're adults man and you would NEVER do this at work.

When we are in a different turf or job, or network meeting or anywhere, we first find out the policy, the culture, and the groove.

It's like walking into someone's house. You look and see if their culture is to take shoes off or leave them on. Imagine, if we didn't care enough about the diverse cultures we meet.

It be a right riot!

This is where most mess up in prospecting. They don't think first, observe, watch, ask questions, study and get to know people.

You see it often - most have been on the forum for donkey years.

Then they think, that they can get away with it.

Desperation is kicking. They got to get some people to their blog and click on that link and get some MONIES.

'I got to pay that gas bill and the internet connection. I'm BROKE!'

That's when they go on the forum and bang an article and in right middle of the article, they throw in a link to a capture page.

Suddenly, hell breaks loose. You have 20 Clint Eastwood, 50 Chuck Norris, Tripple A Team Members, and Bruce Lee with Nunchaka's coming for this person, and ready to give a right whipping.

And man do they get a whupping.

By time they finished, the 'Sneak it In' is crying and clutching to anything they can. Yes, even the part on the support team said they could.

Very crafty haha. Preparing by emailing the support because they know it's wrong. They can feel it in their bones.

When there's doubt, when you know you'd never do this in the outside world, you can feel it in your gut. You know it's spam.

Now, the next one takes the mick. Put all these together and this one stands a mile off. They should be crowned for this move.

4. The 'Glitter Effect.'

Instead of getting masterful at copywriting and give value, they put...

@!!++++ ******** HEADLINE HERE +++++*******??"@!

No, I didn't make any mistakes here. You can see crosses and stars and chaos in the headline.

They bang symbols to grab people's attention while I laugh my sock off and wonder what on earth is going on. What nonsense of an ebook or video course they got that from.

I think they either must be drunk, or they hit themselves on the door or something.

Lord, oh Lord, save us from the glitter effect.

This is where the HUNTED will gladly be the HUNTERS this time, and whip the living daylight in forum and say it straight..

"Oi! Stop Spamming The Forum!"

By the time the whupping is done - it's finished, it's all over the web and your name, plus the thread is pasted on facebook, twitter, and everywhere else. Some think that's good as it gets more people to the person who spams.

Think again.

It is going to take sometime to build a reputation after that whupping.

Don't even get me started with the Instructor column. Are you kidding me!

Where's CARL THE COP when you need him?

I'm going to do my 4 friends a favour and if they into all that..

Here's the 6 Golden Rules Or FaceThe Wrath Of Any Community

  • Place all your links in the signature link.
  • Create forum threads ONLY for questions and discussions.
  • Put all articles in the article sections.
  • Never create a thread and bang a link to an article you've posted.
  • Never create a thread and paste a link on how you created a blog post.
  • And enough of 'check my blog out, what do you think.'

Invest, study and get real gooooooood at Marketing.

Yes, that's link which pays me but hey...it's not pasted in a forum

Agree? disagree? Go ahead, let's hear it.

Vote, Tweet, Facebook it, Share, Laugh..

But leave all Nunchaka's, baseball bats and any dangerous objects at the door. You can collect them after you comment.

Pizza's are allowed.

Thanks.

Glad you said it.

Adam, that's one heck of a post.. soooo true.

"Great article. Love that article. Wise words..."

Sometimes I wonder if these posers really think people are that stupid they won't see through their insidious little plan of getting people to go read an article.

You touched on some very nice points there Adam.

:Lord oh Lord, please do save us from the glitter effect indeed"

Cheers !!
