Starting a Home Based Business Opportunity - Series 1 - Social Media
How to start your at home based business opportunity correctly? WWW. That is what you need. Improving your skills on the web is by far the easiest way for your home business to succeed. It is a necessity for big business as well, they just have the budgets the rest of us don't to build a presence quickly. Approximately 2/3 of US GDP is consumer spending, depending on where we are in the economic cycle - right now it is much lower as government spending is propping up the economy with the stimulus plan, but in "normal" times 2/3 is a pretty good gauge and a HUGE piece of the pie.
It goes without saying that people are going to do business with the people the know and trust. It is astonishing to see the world that we have adopted socially over the Internet flourish as it has allowed us to stay connected like never before; however what is even more astonishing is that the very same people who use the social media sites so religiously to connect with their friends and family don't do the same with marketing their home business ideas. Okay, so they do use them, they just don't take the time to learn how to manage it effectively. Below I am going to discuss a few things that will allow you to start your at home or small business on the right path.
To start, I am going to make the assumption that in order to make any friend you have to have a shared experience. In the traditional sense of this it could be an event you attend together, a dinner/drinks with common friends, going to college together, working together etc. With all of these, physical proximity is the common denominator. While these types of interactions most likely have the strongest influence on the depth of your relationships, they are the most inefficient way to maintain dialogue, connect with someone new, or reconnect with an old friend.
Clearly a Facebook post or Twitter allows me to interact with more people than I ever could by any other means, including mass texting and emailing. So, why not use these powerful avenues to maintain and create relationships with potential customers, or better yet make potential customers your friends by giving them a view behind the curtain of your personal life - it can't hurt sales if you are a good person and show people the individual behind your fancy logo, and the advantage you have is big business can't do this as well as you.
The first critical step is to put yourself out there. I don't care how it is done, but I would suggest that you start with a blog that you can link any produced material too. Transparency and openness will work wonders when you link your personal life to your business. Anyone who comes in from the business side will be able to click a few links and see the picture of you playing with your family or having a good time with your family - good you are real.
Also, your friends and family are curious about what you are doing with your home based business opportunity, why not send out a press release that says when you come out with a new line? One might feel uncomfortable "pitching" those close to them, but they have the right to decide what they want to do with their money and if you have a quality product you should encourage feed back, you may get peripheral customers from the buzz or a few suggestions on what people really want to see. The best thing about this is that it is entirely free.
So, if you are not already using these sights for business or personal reasons. Start. They are a must for everyone going forward. And, for those of you who are, start learning how to automate and steam line the tasks - being efficient doesn't mean it has to be any less personal.
This is going to be the start of a series on some of the early steps to take when starting your legitimate home business or starting your small business. Please visit http://www.GripofDough.com for more information
