Time To Stop Using The Company Site!

I read a recent exchange on facebook regarding websites and it shocked me to realise that so many people in NM and internet Business are still relying on company replicated sites.  Despite the constant stream of information and training on attraction marketing and self branding there are still literally thousands of home business owners out there still using ‘me too’ web sites.

Don’t get me wrong they do have a place.   Even I started out using the company pages as a newbie, it got me up and running and ready to go.  Newbies who are struggling with information overload, time shortage and a lack of skills need something to ‘plug and go’ they have to get up and running somehow and the company page does just this.   But, once you get up and running you have to learn to ditch the ‘me too’ site as quickly as you can.

Just think about it, if you were looking for a business opportunity would you choose the relicated site – a faceless page that takes your $$ or would you prefer to be able to meet your new sponsor before you buy?  Would you not prefer to visit their blog or personal page and see them as a person?

By learning to create your own pages and site you make that differentiation and you begin to position yourself as a leader not one of the pack.  Humans need to follow leaders especially if they are venturing into something new and unknown.  They need to feel safe and need to feel that they will be given help and support and feel reassured.  They need taking by the hand and to be gently led to where they want to go. If people are looking for a new business then they need to feel that they are joining a person who will help and support them personally, not a faceless company just taking their money.

The replicated company site has been in demise for quite some time and the final nail in its coffin came late last year when google waded in with its machete and cut thousands of advertisers adrift for being too much of the same.  Even the new kid on the block Facebook has started out as it means to go on and if they catch you being a ‘me too’ you will be out before you know it.  If that’s not the biggest hint to go it alone and brand yourself then maybe it’s time to look for something new..

The bottom line is quite simply that there is no excuse for not being self branded today.  The competition out there in cyberspace is huge but if you are branded well and positioned well then you will be perceived as a leader who others will want to follow.  A good personal site or blog shows you are investing time and effort into learning new skills, and that you have much to offer others.

There is so much excellent marketing education to access and much of it is free that there is quite simply no excuse for anyone to be relying on the same ‘me too’ sites that so many people still use. So, time to roll up your sleeves and get to work and show the world who you are, what you have to offer and to create the most valuable brand you can ever own You Inc. where you will quite simply be able to sell anything to anyone anywhere....
