5 Reasons Why Video Marketing Is a Great Idea

It seems ironical that I use an article to write about 5 reasons why marketing with videos is a great idea. I should be using video. But then, I do use a lot of video and this is for you who prefer to read than to see. Welcome aboard!

First things first. If a picture is worth a thousand words, video is probably worth a million. Trust is the big issue online and one thing video builds very well is trust. Once you can see what you are getting, you are more likely to believe that you will be getting it. So video helps build trust in the person, the product, the product usage... whatever.

Second, marketing with videos is usually simpler than other means. The reason is, when you market with videos you use an ordinary camera or even a webcam and shoot spontaneously. This is quick and authentic. Sure you can produce sophisticated videos Hollywood style... but by keeping it simple you probably achieve better human connect, which is critical online.

Point number three is that videos are highly searched. YouTube is the third most visited website in the world - after Google and Facebook. Now if you make videos and put them up there, chances are you will be noticed if you get the basic searchability factors right. This means you will get a lot of people coming to you through your videos rather than you having to go hunting them out.

Fourth, videos allow comments and interaction. They can go viral and your reach can become many times your effort. This is not always true of other web 2.0 properties like posts, blogs and articles. There's a magic in what can be seen and therefore people like to discuss it. Good content going viral pointing back to your site is great marketing strategy.

And finally, marketing with videos is as yet uncommon. Brands still resort to TV for their video marketing campaigns. So if you get focused on marketing with video on the internet, you could have a first-mover advantage whatever your size!
