How to Create a Video Using PowerPoint - Part 3

Read More: Video Marketing

This is the 3rd and final post on creating a video using PowerPoint.

Just to recap, we have now covered:

  • Creating the pages in PowerPoint
  • Importing the pages into windows Movie Maker
  • Dragging and dropping the imported pictures from the collection to the storyboard
  • Finding music on the web using paid and free sources
  • Converting the music from MP3 to .WAV files
  • Importing the music into Windows Movie Maker
  • Switching from storyboard to timeline
  • Dragging and dropping the music file to the timeline

So now it’s time to synchronize the music to the storyboard and put the finishing touches on your video.

Once the music is moved to the time line you’ll be able to see where the end of the audio rests in relation to when your video will end.

If the music is longer than the video, you can do one of 2 things.

  1. You can either have the music start a bit before the video sort of like a prelude.
  2. You can adjust the length of time so that each page will remain on the screen longer.

To make this adjustment, position your cursor on the area of the timeline which shows the measurements and left click your mouse.

You will see a blue box appear with a line.

While holding the left mouse button, you’ll be able to position the line by dragging it forwards or backwards.

Position the line and then click the page after the line to highlight the page.  Then, if you position the cursor to the seam between pages to the right of the line a red 2 way arrow will appear.  This will allow you to extend or shorten the time that the page will be viewed.

In this way you will align the music with the video. One consideration is if you have text on the pages, you might want select those pages to extend as they will require longer viewing time.

Now, all that’s left to do is to add titles or credits by selecting the “Make Titles or Credits" link from the “Edit Movie Section”, (Section 2).

So now you've made your movie using PowerPoint and Windows Movie Maker and can now get your message out in front of the millions of YouTube users!!

Thanks for following along.
