I Hate it When People Make Excuses. Don't You?
The 7 foot tall college basketball player (even though he looks like he is 40) charges down the middle of the court from one side to the other without the ball in hand.
He sees his teammate trotting behind him carrying that ball he desperately desires. He runs down to where he his right underneath the hoop, throws his hands in the air and shouts “BALL, BALL”.
The point guard wings the ball thirty feet ahead, but it never makes it to the giant. The ball gets picked off and headed the other way in the blink of an eye.
In rage the big number 15 flies down the court catching up to the other player inches at a time.
The other player gets to the three point line, the free throw line, then to the hoop!..
But wait! Big number 15 plows right through him tossing him straight to the ground before he ever knows what hit him.
The ref blows his whistle calling a foul on number 15.
In shock the big guy throws his hands up in air, and yells back “What Foul?!!!”
How many times have you seen this before?
A basketball player throws a guy to the ground with all of his might, but then is surprised that the foul was called. Then he has the nerve to deny all allegations against him.
I have seen it a hundred times before, but not just in basketball.
I have seen something like it in football, something like it in tennis, something like it in baseball, and of course something EXACTLY like it network marketing.
A person starts off in this industry doing alright, but hits a wall. They are either not willing to do what is needed to make it, or they make a small mistake that gives them a minor set back.
Then they end up throwing in the towel. And when someone asks them about it they look back and say “what foul?”
They say it is not their fault that they failed. I mean their product really did not taste that good. It’s not their fault they failed; their opportunity already had a bunch of people in it. Or it’s not THEIR fault that they failed the compensation plan was sub par.
But the real question is..
Why would it matter that their product tasted bad, if they didn’t know how to market and no one knew they were selling it?
Why would it even matter if there are a lot of people in the opportunity, if thousands of NEW people get online every single day looking for a business opportunity.
Why would it matter how great or horrible their compensation plan was, if nobody was in it.
Then there are the people that say “what foul”, and deny failing completely.
They tell themselves and others that they did not fail, they just gave up because they did not have enough time on their hands.
They just quit because they figured out that they did not need the extra money after all.
They just quit because their friends made of them for being in a “pyramid scheme”.
After all, giving up isn’t the same thing as failing right?
There are too many people that have no sense of responsibility for their actions.
They think that if they succeed, well they must have found the right product.
If they succeed, well they have found the best compensation plan around.
If they fail, well hey they “really did not even want to succeed anyways”.
They put nothing on themselves.
They forget that THEY are the ones that have to market the product, whether it is good or bad. NO product will sell itself no matter what your upline tells you.
They forget that THEY are the ones that will have to fill up their compensation plan with people in order for it to have any affect on their success.
It’s funny how that small fact just seems to slip a person’s mind. The fact that THEIR success does not rely on you, it does not rely on me, it does not rely on some company; it only relies on them.
If you are not having the success that you want right now, do not point a finger at anyone else, unless you are pointing it at a mirror.
You can succeed in this business. Anybody can, if you are willing to acquire the skills, and put them to good use.
It seems to me like people look down on the fact that their success relies on them and them only, when actually it is a good thing.
A FANTASTIC thing I might add.
I mean wouldn’t you rather your success rely on you than on your enemies? Wouldn’t you rather your success rely on you than your friend that is going down the dark path of poverty? Wouldn’t you rather your success rely on you than your pet dog named Bandit?
Yes, you have to put in the work, but you have control over your own success. Do NOT take that for granted like so many do.
If you want to succeed, well then it's simple: Go out and succeed.

Responsibility.....
Not many people have it these days. Some one else is always to blame. People don't understand how good of an opportunity that they have here, but they blow because they just won't put everything on their own shoulders. It frightens some, but I enjoy every minute of it. The good times and the bad. If you don't enjoy the ride, you won't enjoy the success. Good post here Landon. Stepped on my toes a little bit.
Great Post!
And so common across all sorts of businesses. People are so afraid of failure or being wrong that making up excuses is done without any real thought. It's amazing how quick the excuse or denial will pop out... I know I've been guilty of it a time or two, but I learned quickly that if I don't accept responsibility for my actions I'm never going to learn anything of value. Excuses just create a veil to the best learning experiences available.
I love it when they Make Excuses
That Frees my time to work with those that are HUNGRY!!!
