What is Internet Marketing?

Having your own Internet Marketing business is a lot easier than it once was.  Over the past few years Internet Marketing has become a lot more accessible. You don’t have to be a ‘geek’ or an Internet Marketing ‘guru’ any more.  The other thing is that you don’t have to spend truck loads of money to start an online business either; most of the tools you will need are either free or cost very little.

So what is Internet Marketing?

Internet Marketing is basically using the internet in its many guises to advertise your products, services or opportunities.  In promoting an online business you may use many elements of Internet Marketing to a greater or lesser degree depending on what you are trying to achieve and what you’re experience is.  For example, the following are all activities associated with Internet Marketing:

Affiliate Marketing - Selling affiliate products or creating your own products to sell through affiliate marketing programs such as ‘ClickBank’.

YouTube - YouTube is massive, no doubt about it!  Recording a short video and posting it on YouTube is a great way to get that search engine exposure.  Videos rank quickly and very effectively.

Classified ads in Ezines – Ezines are email newsletters which often have large and targeted reader’s lists; a great way to get the word out about your products and services.

Posting on Forums – On forums you can include a link in your signature file linking back to your website where people can learn more about you.

Create an Email Marketing List – “The money is in the list” as they say and following up with ‘offers’ to your list will generate sales. The larger your list the greater the amount of money you can generate.

Blog and Articles - This is a great way to get exposure on the search engines. If you target keyword phrases correctly you could and end up one page one of Google.

Submitting Articles to Article Directories - Another great way to get exposure on the search engines and, like with forums, you can include a link in the resource box to drive people back to you blog or website.

Facebook - Anyone not marketing their Internet Marketing Business on Facebook is missing a trick.  There are half a billion Facebook users; getting your message in front of them is a must!

Banner Ads – Buying banner ads on high traffic websites and blogs. A high traffic blog or website can create all kinds of visitors for your business every time they click on your banner ad.

Will I make MILLIONS with my internet marketing business?

The simple answer to that is probably not, at least not in the early years.  While it’s pretty easy to set up an Internet Marketing Business the fact remains that you, like everyone else will have to learn how to start, run and operate your business.  It will be a sharp learning curve because you will, over time, need to learn how to market using many of the areas listed above.

It requires hard work, determination and a never-say-die attitude to succeed in Internet Marketing.  It’s an extremely competitive area to work in but the marketplace is massive, truly massive and is expanding all the time.  The potential is there for anyone to succeed and be wealthy. You just need to ask yourself if you have what it takes to succeed and put the time and the effort in to learn.

If you want to shorten the learning curve find yourself a good mentor. You may have to pay, but when it comes to your education on the internet it doesn’t come free.

This is just a short article answering the question ‘What is Internet Marketing’.  If you would like to know more about this fascinating subject why not pop over to my blog and touch base.
