You Inc. - Developing Your Personal Brand For Your Network Marketing Business
If you are familar with attraction marketing then you will be aware of the importance of building your personal brand instead of leading with your network marketing company.
What exactly does building your own brand mean?
When you think of brands you may think of Coca Cola, Google or Apple.
Well for starters, your brand is all about YOU!
So it is up to you to decide what your brand represents. It's an opportunity for you to express yourself and not be confined to a corporate image with rules and restrictions.
Now don't get me wrong you are still focused on building a business, just not in a conventional way.
To get started you need to ask yourself some fundamental questions.
- What are you passionate about: what do you love to learn about?
- What are your talents and strengths: what are you naturally good at? What comes easy to you?
- What legacy do you want to leave? What will people remember you for?
Once you have explored questions like these you can then look at the possibilities of creating a marketable personal brand.
Now that you have an idea of what you like you can now find out if there are people willing to pay you for your information, skills and knowledge.
The next step would be to ask:
- Who would you love to serve?
- Who would be your ideal target market?
- Do they want and need what you have to offer?
- What are the biggest problems or needs of your target market?
- How can you provide a solution?
For example: many network marketers struggle with generating leads and making money online, you could provide them with a solution by offering a marketing system that generates leads and makes them money.
How are you going to find these people?
Start with the end in mind.
Keyword Research
Google offer a free keyword tool that allows you to conduct research on your target market. By doing keyword research you will be able to search for words and phrases that people who are looking for what you are offering use. If the keywords you choose have at least 1,000 global searches per month then you have a viable target market
Another way to conduct research is to talk to people! You could simply ask people in your target market about what their needs are and the type of words and phrases they use when searching of solutions on the internet.
Your Ideal Customer
Once you have established what your target market is searching for, you can then create your "ideal" customer so that when you put together your content and marketing you are able to communicate directly to one person. Here are a few questions you could ask to get a clearer picture of your ideal customer.
- Is your ideal customer male or female?
- How are old are they?
- Where do they live?
- What is their lifestyle like? Work, hobbies, stress levels?
- What are their greatest goals, vision or dreams?
By going through this process you will be able to package your solution in a way that your target market (ideal customer) will be able to relate to so that you can establish an emotional connection.
The great thing about developing You Inc. is that you can start with yourself, be your ideal customer. There are people looking for what you have to offer so all you have to do is present your solution in front of the people who are looking. The people who will be attracted to you may have similar likes and interests to you so once you have found them you can focus on buiilding a relationship with them.
Your Brand Statement
Now that you are clear on who you are serving and what you have to offer, how will you share this information when you meet new people or promote what you do on social media networks?
A great way to put together a brand statement is to formulate your "elevator pitch" consisting of a few sentences describing who you are, who you are serving and the solution that you are providing.
An example could be: "I am an online business coach, who is committed to educating network marketers how to generate leads and make money using the internet to create financial freedom."
Now that you have an outline for creating your own personal brand using the You Inc model you can put it into action and serve all the people looking for the solution you have to offer.
