Basic Steps To Start An Online Business
Despite of what kind of online business you plan to initiate, the procedure will be almost the same as opening a business on the ground.
1. Choose The Right Opportunity
The products or services you decide to promote on the internet will depend on what your interests are, how much capital you have to start, and whether or not there is a market for what you want to sell.
You can choose to create your own product, join a home business based, promote affiliate products, or offer your services.

2. Open a Business Account
When you have chosen your business opportunity, it is very important to remember that you’ll need to select an accounting method and also open a business bank account. You have to keep the money for your business apart from your individual accounts (Consult your CPA).
3. Create Your Business Plan
You need to put in writing all the details for this venture on a short, medium and long term; specifying the EXACT hours you will spend on this business every day.
Also write your USP (unique selling proposition), choose who your model client is, how your product will benefit that client, and what makes your product better than your competitors.
If you understand these things, you'll have a stronger focus in your business, and you're more probable to make more sales as you'll focus your energies where your real market is.
4. Build a Website
Once you've taken these first three steps, it's time to build a website.
You can build either a direct response site or a content site.
With a direct response site, you'll basically create a website that's a sales letter or squeeze page.
A content site will be more varied. You can include pictures, videos, product reviews, news, articles, FAQ section, and even interactive essentials like a forum or discussion group.
The potential with this kind of sites are infinite. As the internet is an information driven media, you're more likely to find success with a website that is strongly targeted to a niche, with plenty of targeted content and interactivity.
5. Choose Your Marketing Plan
Once you've built your website, it's time to choose how you will market your new website.
During this phase, you'll bring together your best marketing tools, as well as decide what marketing methods you will use.
Examples for these methods are: writing articles, posting on forums, press releases, using social media, etc. etc.
Once you've decided how you want to market your product or service, bookmark those sites where you will post your content.
6. Promote Your Business
Now, your job will be to reach your market prospects and let them know about your business product or service.
One of the many duties to promote your business online may be to create the content you will share and then post them out, or just creating campaigns on AdWords Google.
Testing and tracking are key here to see how your marketing is doing. This way, you can make adjustments and get rid of marketing methods that don't work for you.
Consistency is vital, and you'll have to promote your business on a regular basis.
7. Grow Your New Business
Once you've finished these 6 basic steps, you'll want to use the SIXTY-THIRTY-TEN Rule of maintaining a business (60-30-10 Rule). For this, you have two options:
a.- If you sell products,
SIXTY PERCENT of your time will be EXCLUSIVELY used for Marketing;
THIRTY PERCENT will be spent on Product Development, and
TEN PERCENT for doing Administrative Tasks like responding emails and keeping your business records.
b.- If you sell services, you'll spend
SIXTY PERCENT of your time doing Your Service,
THIRTY PERCENT of your time doing Marketing and
TEN PERCENT dedicated for Administrative Tasks.
Keep in mind that regardless of whether you sell products or services, MARKETING is THE essential part of ANY BUSINESS success, and the best thing you can do for this area, is to learn how to apply the philosophy of “ATTRACTION MARKETING”.
