DID YOU READ THE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES?
I was talking to someone recently about the supplements they were talking. They talked about how great they were and suggested I should try them. If I liked them I should become a distributor to get the discount. Being the critical thinker the "Mental Cleanse" has taught me to be - I went to the web-site. The supplements looked good. Then I went to the company marketing plan and on to the policies and procedures. Which, by the way, was twenty-four pages.
Point number 1.12 read "the 70% Rule - The company program is built upon retail sales of products and services to the ultimate consumer. Inventory loading is prohibited. This would include the purchase of products and services for the sole purpose of qualifiying for commissions or advancement within the Marketing and Compensation Program. Thus, when re-ordering inventory from the Company, you are required to have sold at least 70% of all previous orders. You are requred to keep receipts of all retail sales activity. If requested by the Company, you must furnish those receipts in order to verify that at least 70% of your previous orders have been sold."
So, what if your house catches on fire (God Forbid) and your receipts burn up or a tornado rips your house to pieces, and you can't produce your receipts when the company requests them. They can just cancel your contract, and if you have built a down-line, you just lost it. Besides that, I could not just join to buy the products as my friend suggested. I would be "forced" to sell the products in order to comply with the policies and procedures. That was just a few of the "Red Flags" I found.
Policies and procedures are often written by lawyers to protect the company. Fortunately, not all companies are the same. If you are looking for a network marketing company, do yourself a favor. Read the policies and procedures carefully. They should not be very long. Find a "Five-pillars" company.
