Do you know who's running the company?
So if you’ve read the other two articles I posted you know about my introduction to an MLM "pyramid" – then then sneaky CEO and bad company policies…now a little story on how crucial it is to know who’s running the company – their experience and their professionalism. How long have they been in network marketing and do the fully understand the business model?
So obviously the pyramid was madness – the air filters plan clogged up – but I’m not one to give up…and there’s always another opportunity around the corner. It wasn’t long before I met a prosperous young man in the travel business. His concept was brilliant – business cards and brochures with our associate number on them - hand them out - people called the travel company and quoted our number and we got a commission. It followed the basic MLM concept so we got a commission on anyone we sponsored also. (I was never shown the whole commission breakdown). It sounded easy; most everyone traveled.
My sponsor was a major player in the company – part owner and brand new in the business as were his partners. They had the education but not the experience.
The company boomed! Even government officials got in on the action as well as some members of the local police force and a few lawyers. Finally! I was in a legit business and actually making some money. The first year we grew so fast there was talk of buying our own plane!!
Then - shortly into year two, I never got a check for one whole month.OK, time to check out head office. Whoa!! The parking lot was full…a lot of angry people in there since nobody had been paid in the past two months. I’ll skip the details of the commotion that went on but rest assured it was madness (Lawyers and police officers remember). Bottom line – after several calls to the accountants with no answer, one of the police officers attending drove to the accountant’s house - only to find it completely empty except for an answering machine with the light blinking off and on. We were bankrupt.Who was in on the plan? We never found out completely. The accountants were gone and the owners faced a lot of legal proceedings but didn't seen too concerned and moved on to other businesses.
The owners had plenty of education…but no experience and apparently they put all their trust in two young kids fresh out of university and never monitored anything. They kids were fresh alright…fresh out of the country with a mighty fine bank account somewhere in Switzerland I would guess.
Unfortunately this company didn’t quite stand up to the test of being a Five Pillars Company. The owners we from a Fortune 500 background and that's the business model they were use to.To understand exactly what a Five Pillars Company is and how important it is for you future, you can simple click here to learn more.
Take care – choose wisely. And have a great week.

This experience you had goes
This experience you had goes against pillar number one. Now that we know the pillars to which all companies should be judged, you and I will never get ourselves in a situation like the one you posted above.
Great story Doug!!!
