Should You Put Your Companies Nose In The Corner
We teach our children to behave. We instill in them the attractive qualities of one that is not selfish, that is considerate and respectful. They learn as they grow that attractive behavior reaps more rewards than unattractive behavior. When they throw a fit ,are selfish and just outright disrespectful they must suffer the consequences. Usually in some form of punishment they don’t like very much at all , but with the proper use they will learn the lesson intended. Then they can become the young men and women , that as parents, we can all be proud of…..Right?
So why is it as adults it is ok to behave as we would punish our children’s behavior for? Because we Are Adults? We should know the lessons we taught and set the good example even after our children have grown. And it should apply to Every aspect of our lives. Not just our family and friends.
What does all this have to do with your Company? Their behavior shows where your companies loyalties lie. Do they Respect you or are you the workforce to be taken advantage of.
The first thing that people must understand is that all the profit to pay commissions come from the sale of a product to the end consumer. The Difference between the cost of the product plus the overhead equals the amount of the commissions they can pay you. The lower the companies overhead the more they can pay in commissions. Now, Companies with Huge overhead will also have long Policies & Procedures ( here we go again with the P & P’s, wonder why it always comes back to that?) because they may need to steal your bonus check to pay for the overhead.
Now every company needs a building, a certain amount of employees for that building and of course certain services for that building and all those people ( like janitorial ). That is a given. Now do you need a CEIOU for toilette supplies…No. But you would be amazed at the titles given to the best friends son-in-laws brother that just got out of prison and can’t get a job anywhere.
Do they need a ton of lawyers on staff? Only if their P & P’s are planning to steal your bonus check or they have so many problems they need a lot of them there at all times. What about the private Jet and Limo? Don’t they put their pants on the same way you do? If they want the “Royal” treatment it should come from their paycheck ….not yours. Yet these are things that count as “Overhead”.
Now back to that unattractive behavior. If you are considered to be worthy of disrespect from your company by having to pay all of their Personal Overhead then it’s time for you to put their noses in the corner. Well, at least step back and see Why they behave so badly.
A company that has your best interest in mind will “Cut The Fat”….Mind you that is not to say they will cut corners, those are two different things.
You can learn how to spot these important behavioral details mostly by reading your P & P’s and doing some research into your company. And if you still need help , there is an excellent resource to help you learn how to recognize such behavior.

Re: Nose in the Corner
Hi Zelphina!
Great article! I've seen and known some of the companies you are speaking of, and I truly wish that I had known that there were some that weren't like that.
Today, with the information we have at hand, we can only hope that the information gets out that there are great companies that reward the efforts of their distributors in such a way as to make it worthwhile to do a part-time business and look forward to building a full-time one when it is time to do so.
I found one, and I'm sure that you have too, or you wouldn't know to write this article. Congratulations!
Carl
You paint a pretty negative picture of MLM companies
I sincerely hope there are not too many companies out there like that. I know the companies (except one)I have checked out (in my MLM journey) have millionaires who have come from nothing to where they are now. As long as that is happening the company is making it possible whether they have a huge office or not.
I don't know, maybe I'm just an optimist but I can't see too many companies lasting very long if their focus isn't on the distributors. Distributors would quit, new people wouldn't start and the company would have to close its doors. I personally haven't seen that happen too often with companies over 5 years old. Hmmmm looks like more research might be needed into that topic. Good one to explore.

Some deserve a dunce cap...
...but most do right by their affiliates/distributors -- especially as long as everything is going smoothly and everyone is making at least SOME money. Problems can still be "waiting in the wings" if the contractual "legal-eze" is skewed strongly for the company as many are. The bottom line for me: READ and UNDERSTAND your Policies & Procedures (and Terms & Conditions). Having "been there done that," I know what can happen when you don't take that seemingly-obvious step to protect yourself.
Looking back at some of the companies I "joined with my eyes closed," it would have taken at least an hour to read their contracts (pages numbering in the 30's and 40's) and I had too many stars in my eyes and didn't want to "waste my time." In retrospect, however, even though they were "old," name-brand, well-known companies I would have been waaaay ahead of the game had I spent that hour reading. :-o
