The 10 Commandments (+1) of MLM

Read More: Companies

So many principles, so many rules. The advice is overwhelming, at times even paralyzing. Yet no matter what company you're looking to join these ten basic suggestions just may save your network marketing life.

  1. DO NOT JOIN a publicly traded company. Its first loyalty is to its stock holders, NOT to you, its Rep and Distributor.
  2. AVOID a company whose Management has NEVER built a Downline of their own.
  3. AVOID ALL COMP PLANS THAT RESTRICT you from building Your Organization as wide OR as deep as You desire.
  4. DO NOT AGREE to retail ANY product that can currently be purchased online at sites other than your company's and that is selling for less than what you're paying for it.
  5. DO NOT AGREE to join an Opportunity selling a "product" at such a price that any sensible person would NEVER spend if an "opportunity" were not attached to it. This is the definition of a scam.
  6. DO NOT JOIN JUST a Company or BUY into an Opportunity. Join a Team. Join a Leader. Join people you like and can work with. This business CANNOT be done alone.
  7. DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED. Asking for Help from Your Upline or crossline associates is an essential element to Your success.
  8. DO NOT SELL IN THE CONVENTIONAL SENSE, i.e., DO NOT CONVINCE someone to join You or You will have to do it over and over again. SERVE PEOPLE and they will "BUY" into Your Opportunity, Your product and You.
  9. DO NOT AVOID A GREAT OPPORTUNITY just because there is a required Autoship. The Autoship is the life blood of any good & legitimate company. It is the source of revenue that enables Your company to Pay Bonuses and Commissions.
  10. GET THE SKILLS NECESSARY to successfully execute Your business. All professionals study to acquire the skills of their profession. Why not You?

+1. AND REMEMBER TO HAVE FUN. If you don't, what good is all the money? Besides, how often will you want to "work your business" if You're not enjoying it?

So what's going to be easier for you, to get the big picture and learn a System that will get you to "keep these commandments" or to "keep breaking them" and continue to struggle?

I Like Number Ten Best

Hello Tony:

I like number ten best because you must work on yourself harder than your business and of course learn the skills. Because as Tom says if you do not know what to say and do you are toast.

Awesome information

I would add 2 commandments.

Never join a company without integrity. We have all heard the stories of companies not renewing successful distributors contracts for no or very slim reasons. Look at the policies and procedures closely.

Find a system that can be duplicated by anyone. You are not duplicatable, neither are the heavy hitters. But systems are. A great system will provide everything from providing leads to developing relationships and sponsoring people into your opportunity. As you said teamwork is a must. Any system needs to utilize a team and help you develop a mastermind group.
