The MLM Telecom Wars Rage On
This is actually a follow-up article to one I posted in early July. Not a lot has changed, except there are more players and more and more confused and frustrated distributors. Not one company really has solved all the problems yet.
Global Verge / Buzzirk Mobile still has not released a telecom product and is on the blacklist of many distributors.
FDI's roll out of FDI International (FDII) has been slow and cumbersome. They are still working out the bugs. The technology brought to them by Kuba was real, but not as cutting edge as they were led to believe. They attempted to launch an entire line of new products with virtually no customer support. I believe FDI will eventually solve the issues, but FDII is proving to be a short term distraction from their core business.
WOW Mobile has entered the battle as a division of Liberty International. Articles are already popping up questioning the history and background of the founder. Just another reason to do your homework before opening your wallet.
Traverus Travel just launched their new website for TeleVerus. This will be the new telecommunications arm for Traverus. I do have to compliment Traverus on what I perceive as a very smart business move. For a time last month they allowed free entry into their company. That promotion ended, but they still have a $15 special which will end 10am CST Monday morning, 10/19/2009. There has been so much misinformation and confusion from virtually every company after people have paid hundreds of dollars to join, that there a lot of angry MLM'ers out there. Someone needs to treat them with respect and provide accurate information to them. Letting them take a test drive for $15 after the events of the past month or two seems like a very wise move.
There are many other telecom companies out there and I'm sure many more to come. Technology is a moving target. Make sure the company you are looking at is adding telecom for the right reasons and not just to capture a short term pop in the marketplace. If the company is not tech saavy, does not really understand what they are selling, and prepared to keep up with changes in the telecom marketplace, the addition of this type of product will end up leading to short term gains and long term losses. Don't get caught up in the hype. Conduct thorough due diligence.

FDI International Response
In Regards to FDI International, the launch was done successfully! Service works as promised, no empty promises there! We are the only MLM Telecom company that has its Own VoIP Network, not a reseller, also are the only true Mobile Voip. Others are just wifi phones such as Traverus. We have our network and the techonology and products, there are tenths of thousands of people using their GI Cell and Trinet and saving a lot of their long distance. If you need more information and updates see my page at http://www.MyFdiConnection.com to contact me directly. Also we do have a great customer support and customer service done in 15 languages, something that nobody offers. Have a great day

FDI
First, let me say that I think FDI is a good company. My purpose is to share what I believe are accurate facts so people can make more informed decisions. There is a lot of misinformation floating around about many companies. Let me address your comments one by one.
1. Service - If "as promised" means waiting several days for an email because you couldn't reach a live person, then I agree. (I'm sure FDI is fixing this.)
2. Only Company with VOIP Network - Words like "only" are always dangerous. FDI originally advertised that they "owned the tone". This unfortunately was not true. This was not because FDI was trying to deceive, but because they had been misled by Kuba. They have since tried to rectify this by signing other contracts.
3. FDI has the only true mobile VOIP - Again dangerous ground. The GICell is actually a 3 year old basic cell phone with wi-fi and data enhancements. It does work as advertised. However, many of the new smart phones with wi-fi capablility and the right application are capable of accessing VOIP through both Wi-Fi and GPRS signals. The GICell is not that unique.
Again I have nothing against FDI or FDII. I believe that FDI discovered that launching FDII was a lot harder than they imagined and this was made even more difficult by misinformation provided to them by Kuba. FDI is a strong company and they will prevail, but their reps should not over hype FDII.
