Health Care versus Legal Care

I read an article recently that was comparing the need for health care with legal care. It pointed out that, health insurance was generally rejected when it first came out. People thought, paying for health care when I am in good health is absurd. Over time, the flaw in that type logic was seen.

You can be healthy one minute and then badly in need of medical attention the next, after an accident, stroke, heart attack etc. Thus, now a large percentage of people in developed countries now have health insurance. They want protection against high doctor and hospital bills.

The same goes for Legal Care. You may not need it one minute, but need it badly the next. You may get hit with a double whammy. For example, if you are involved in an accident, you may find yourself needing health insurance and in some cases legal help too. What recourse do you have if your health insurance company doesn’t pay a claim? You may need to sue someone to recoup losses from an accident or you may get sued and need representation. Something as simple as getting advice, in this type situation, can take hours. Can you afford hours of an attorney’s time at $200+ an hour?
