TO MAKE MONEY, BUT IS IT LEGAL?
 
The concept of giving a cash gift to someone has been around for years, and before the internet you may remember receiving an envelope explaining if you send a cash gift to the top person removing their name and adding yours to the list, and sending out copies you would start receiving cash gifts. This was known as a chain letter. One main problem is that chain letters are illegal to send though the United States Postal system.
 
Now that the internet has arrived, the question still arises; is cash gifting legal? Can someone send you a cash gift legally, and does it matter if one hundred or even one thousand people send you a cash gift? What if for example over the next 12 months 100 people send you $1000.00. Do you have to pay taxes to the IRS on what you receive?
