Ken Dunn Gets AXED By MAX!!!
Here is Ken's Biography...
“Ken Dunn has an amazing ability to make you laugh, cry and examine your own life though his experiences” Felix Munroe, Daytona Beach, Florida
“It is refreshing to hear a speaker putting their own struggles on the table and proving that they have grown through those experiences and not just telling others how to grow” Cathy Johanson, Los Angeles
“Ken has completely changed and enhanced his entire being in order to achieve the success that he was looking for. That is the type of example that I want to follow”
Frank Mendoza, Toronto
Ken has successfully built multi-million dollar business in 4 different industries in less than 6 years
Having spent the first 15 years of his adult life in investigative policing, Ken Dunn had his entire world shaped by the pain and suffering of others. His personality was dark and jaded.
Ken reached the breaking point on July 15th, 2001. That was the day that his son Matthew was born. On a day when most people would be thanking the lord for a healthy child, Ken was panicking wondering how he was going to provide for this new family member.
Inspite of earning 100,000 per year in each of the previous 10 years in policing, Ken was dead broke. Spending habits where more was going out then was coming in, had caught up with him. With a mortgage, car payments and over $250,000 in credit card debt, Ken decided to take action. With no prior experience in business, and only a grade 12 education, Ken created 4 million dollar part time enterprises in less then 5 years.
In 2004 after created a million dollar success story in direct sales, Ken was confronted by the demons in his closet. All of his top executives quit his company citing that they could not stand working with him and that his dictator like personality had killed them.
Ken decided to use this incident as the catalyst for change. By following the example of some of the world’s most amazing leaders, Ken was able to completely change his personality and create wealth for his family.
In Direct Sales, Ken has been able to bring together some of the most brilliant minds the industry has ever seen and they have built a network marketing business of over 100,000 people in 2 years, resulting in over 100,000,000 in revenue for his company and a significant 7 figure annual income for his family.
In his first 5 years in network marketing, Ken has traveled in over 21 countries and spoke to over 100,000 people. Ken has also helped over 50 people to earn very significant 5 and 6 figure monthly incomes.
“My mentors have taught me that to make a million dollars in business, just focus on making a million friends and the rest will happen naturally”, Ken Dunn.
Ken now travels the world and helps people to understand that by simple following the 10 characteristics that he found comparing 7 of the world’s greatest leaders, you can have any success you are looking for.

Shocking News!!!!!!
Juanita thanks for bringing this to peoples attention. Too often these injustices go unnoticed because of the gag orders placed on reps. I am sure it will be some time before we learn the inside information but this does shed light on the importance of reading a contract (If they write it they INTEND to Use It).
No One is Untouchable
Just goes to show no one is untouchable. In some cases it seems the Bigger you are in the company the Bigger the target on your back. That's why it IS important to Read and Understand your Companies Policies & Procedures.Ken Will no doubt bounce back. He is a very strong and talented individual and now thanks to MAX a wiser one as well. Great article Juanita
IT TAKES A LAWYER TO Read MY P and P's
I wonder if that is a bad sign about P&P's??
Some never learn this lesson
There is always 3 sides to every story. His, hers and the truth. But this is a very good reason why you should ever assure someone they will own their life if they join an MLM. You don't own the business the company owners do and you are simply a paid commission sales rep. Coming to terms with that creates the correct mindset and I doubt Ken is totally devastated.
To your success,
Joyce Penner
Reading a contract is Basic
You take a job with the understanding that they (the company) can terminate you if you do not do your duties. But if you open your own business and the company you choose to be in business with has a contract with you( the policy and procedures) then you should read it. That is your contract with your future partner. Thanks for sharing this story Juanita. Ken is an awesome leader and one I am sure the company who exercised a clause will miss.

Importance of Being a Critical Thinker
These types of situations don't have to happen to You if you read and Understand your Policies and Procedures. We sometimes believe that this happens to one in a million but what about when you are that one. There aren't a lot of guarantees in life but we should always do our due diligence and keep the odds in our favor.
Nicholas
If you do read and understand your policies - what difference does that make?? EVERY company will have a clause saying they can change their P&Ps at any time, at their discretion. Distributors in ALL MLM are paid commission sales reps.
If you want to put your whole future in the hands of an MLM, then you are doing it purely on faith. I doubt Ken was in that position therefore it should not serve as a warning to read your P&Ps, it should serve as an announcement NOT to allow someone else to have complete control over YOUR finances. Ken would have been way too smart to have only one source of income.
I just want to Say
Joyce you are so right Ken is totally cool with it. No one minds loosing over 100,000.00 amonth in income no biggy he is very rich. And All MlM fire there Top income earners at will. It is just the way it is. NOT!!!! You can get educated or Listen to Joyce Penner. she knows it all!
There I said it
Juanita Waterman
Ah Juanita
Does your education prevent your company (any company) from firing you? Do you make any of the rules (procedures and policies) in your company? Do you make any residual income within the company if you and your team don't sell product?? It's pure logic Juanita. Someone else is in control of your income. You can make as much as you want but any company can pull the plug, fire their distributors, drop or add products, change the products, in fact they can do anything they want. Truth Juanita? I know, you'll probably say my company wouldn't do that. That's great that you have that much trust in someone else. I, on the other hand will encourage everyone to have multiple streams of income with your MLM as one source and only ONE source. As I'm sure Ken did.
Taking responsibility for yourself also means you need to take responsibility for your financial future and not leave it all in someone else's hands. (As you are doing if you only build your MLM). I have no idea if Ken is totally cool with it as you mentioned however I am pretty sure he was a smart enough business man to have other sources of income going as well.
Now that you've said it I hope you feel better !
Joyce Penner
An industry leader terminated
I just wonder how this could happen to Ken; did he miss something? did he ever read his P&P?

HELLO.......Don't Be The Next One On The Chopping Block!
Couldn't Agree With You More Therese, you said it so well, I'm going to second that and Kudos to you Juanita for providing the availability of pertinent info for all MLM's to educate themselves before they are the next ones on the chopping block!
Joyce's fear.
Hi Juanita, I think a lot of people live with a certain fear that there company might pull the plug on them and as Joyce stated go looking for multiple incomes to create a sort of saver feeling.
Most of them though, forget that is is much harder to spread your 100% attention out over your several income sources, than it is to focus all on one.
How would educating yourself about MLM P & P'w help you prepare for the risks of your company ending your contract?
Thanks for getting this conversation going, I think it is well needed.
Multiple Streams Of Income
As far as multiple streams of income goes, for most it turns out to be multiple streams of out go. The average network marketer finds it hard to focus on one business... never mind more than one. Most network marketers are looking for time freedom and several businesses would not give them that! As Nick states "There aren't a lot of guarantees in life but we should always do our due diligence and keep the odds in our favor." No guarantees with any company but you should read and understand the P&P before you join and if you are ok with them then go for it! Educate yourself.
Alice McCarthy
Have you ever thought of ........
Multiple streams of income doesn't mean you have to focus your attention anywhere other than on your MLM. But what if your lead generation system paid you? Say if you had 200 ebook downloads and you got paid for each one? Wouldn't that be a source of income regardless of whether they joined your primary company or not? How about encouraging your team to get their own domain name and you got paid from GoDaddy (or wherever) wouldn't that be a secondary source of income regardless if you were connected to your now current MLM. How about Awebber? Then you truly would own your list and get paid for it. These are all tools online MLMers need or that you can offer them, wouldn't that be worth considering to get your cash flow going?
Are any of those things taking your focus off your MLM? No, not one bit. They are all tools you use yourself or should.
Any good business person will take advantage of bringing in income from other sources. Not one will rely on just one. It's brains - not fear that drives diversification. Just look at the what happened with the 401K. Putting your financial future into someone else's hands. Wow that must have been an eye opener for a lot of people.
I love my company but I won't put my whole financial security into someone else's hands. That would be a foolish business decision. One I'm not prepared to make nor would I encourage anyone else to.
Critical Minds Deserve $100,000 A Month Residual!
When a person is a serious professional networker, there is no question that they will treat their business and all decisions with serious mindset! If I invest $1,000,000 to own and run a franchise, would I not make sure I know without the shadow of a doubt that I am safe? I feel bad for Ken, he is a great leader and I pray he will be lead to a safe place he can call home~
As for Joyce Penner, the best way to deal with your negativity and constant blah blah is to not even read your garbage. I don't even acknowledge your opinions because rarely is it positive and it seems that you should be spending time building your business, not tearing people down and criticizing everything. Put on the mind of Christ and you will reach your dreams! Love one another!!! Love is greatest gift, try it, you might like what happens in your life when you love others as much as you love yourself.
So important to get the facts of your P&P's.
Thank you Juanita for passing on this valuable information that everyone should know about! It can save us from some horror stories!
EDUCATE YOURSELVES FIRST!!!
I completely agree that knowing your company's policies and procedures is the first and best place to start evaluating before joining any company. MLM is a BUSINESS, just like Coca-Cola, At&t, and any other business out there. I've worked for both of these companies before becoming involved in MLM and you can rest assured that the builders of these organizations have clauses in place protecting them and the money they've earned should they become terminated voluntarily/involuntarily or the company goes bankrupt.
This is a great discussion with only Joyce on the opposing team. Hmmm I wonder why that is... Seems to me that education is key in any business. GoDaddy, Aweber, Lead Generation systems are all owned by COMPANIES, and just like any traditional MLM company they all pay commissions based on your referrals. Which means they all have PnP's have you read them?
Don't put all your eggs in one basket is what your saying Joyce, ok we get it. You must be a very experienced marketer making a very substantial income to the point where it really doesn't matter if anyone joins you in your business because you'll just refer them somewhere else and profit anyway. I've heard this approach called "Selling Shovels to all the Gold diggers". You remember the story of the California Gold Rush... When the shop owner heard of this he went and purchased all the shovels he could because he knew people would need them to do their digging. After the gold rush ended and after all the digging and hard work many workers returned home disappointed because they had not found what they were looking for, but the shop owner struck it rich just by selling shovels. It's safe to say over 90% of those workers failed in their search for financial freedom, just as over 90% of marketers are failing within this industry.
It's Time To Set A New Standard In MLM:
Out of all the people that get involved in MLM only 3-5% succeed and Ken is part of the 3-5%. Ken has prospered because he helped others prosper. To whom much is given much is required. If someone truly wants you to succeed there should not be a price to pay. There is nothing wrong with having multiple streams of income, but for most marketers they have a hard time just acquiring and establish one stream of income. The goal should be to get people EDUCATED on the industry FIRST. Help them to understand what marketing is and what it isn't. Doctors, Engineers, Scientists, go to school for years of learning before they even step foot in their desired careers. They have to educate themselves before they can educate others. If we have become successful in this industry and have done our due diligence, it is our duty to pay it forward. There is more than enough success to go around and the failure rate needs to drop substantially and the only way to do that in my opinion is to teach, coach, & mentor people to success. Maybe they'll join you in your business and maybe they won't. What they will have is a better sense of knowledge and direction, but the choice to take action is theirs alone.
Now once a person has gained momentum and their business is growing and their beginning to make money eliminating most or all of their financial worries from their life, then and ONLY then should they focus their attention on other income streams if they so choose.
People spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on college education, just to acquire knowledge and training in the "Real world". They should use that same mindset when entering into MLM.
To everyone that takes the time to read this article and these comments, especially if your new to this industry EDUCATE YOURSELF FIRST. Abraham Lincoln said "If You Think Education is Expensive, Try Ignorance."
Thank you for the wonderful article Juanita this has definitely raised some awareness as it should.
Well said Shenitta
If I can quote you: "I've heard this approach called "Selling Shovels to all the Gold diggers". It's safe to say over 90% of those workers failed in their search for financial freedom, just as over 90% of marketers are failing within this industry."
The shop owner was a successful business man. He saw a need and filled it. Over 90% of the workers (MLMers) failed but who made money? The storeowner. How? By helping others with the necessary tools they needed. That was one smart businessman.
Most MLMers don't make money with their opportunity. It does take time to learn those skills therefore why not make some income from your lead generation system while you are learning how to become a true network marketer?? Why not make some money from all the tools (shovels) you are using. It will keep MORE people in their opportunity if the tools they are using brings them in an income while they are building their primary opportunity.
Your last sentence Shenitta, what awareness did Juanita actually raise?? That you can be terminated? Everyone can - in any company so isn't this an alarmest type of article?? Shouldn't we be showing people how not to put their faith in just one stream of income so this doesn't happen to them. Wouldn't that be truly helping people with their financial security?
Jenny

Since when is using some logical business sense criticizing or negative?? Don't you remember the story of the talents?? The 10 and 5 went out and used the money to multiply it and were rewarded with "Good and faithful servant". You weren't implying that to approach your business as a money making venture is not scriptural were you? God wants us to make money - wisely !!!!
To your success,
Joyce Penner
Every business minded
Every business minded individual knows that it takes money to make money.. That's just common sense. It's not smart to start a business if you can't afford to keep up with it financially until you can turn a profit. Which is why I say "Educate Yourself First".
The shop owner was a very smart business man, yes he did provide the tools (shovels) needed for them to get the job done, but he also knew they would fail in their search. He didn't take time out to educate anyone purchasing his shovels about the mines because he didn't care whether they struck it rich or not. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, what I am saying is why not take a different approach. Why not take people tell them to keep their money in their pockets and LEARN FIRST. What wrong with that??? How much more respect would a potential business partner have for you if you take time out to help THEM, get THEM educated. There is no such thing as overnight success in any business so don't believe the hype... Regardless of how many streams of income you have it still takes people buying into it in order for you to receive a commission. It still takes effort, time and knowledge.
Joyce we can go back and forth on this all day. I understand this is exposure for you as it is for all of us. So for anyone out there looking to get educated Juanita would be a great person for you to get in contact with if you want to learn about this industry before you invest any money into any company. Joyce would be a great person for you to contact if you want a lot of different recommendations on tools (shovels) to use while building your business since it's safe to assume she profits on every recommendation she makes be it useful to what your doing or not. She's a smart business woman, not a mentor or a coach based on above comments..
Before you can become successful at making multiple streams of income, you first have be good at making ONE. Once your good at creating a lucrative income in MLM once, then of course you can do it again and again and again. Building a business takes focus, if your having trouble finding prospects for one business what makes you think it will be that much easier finding prospects for multiple projects your promoting? Once you've become profitable at one thing FIRST, it makes it that much easier to become profitable at another. You have to crawl before you walk, and when you start walking it's one foot in front of the other. You build your business just like developers build homes, Once brick at a time.
Now I'm sure Joyce will say well why not affiliate yourself with the company you buy the cement from, or the company that manufactures the bricks, or the company who provides the light fixtures, That way if they decide not to build the house at least you got paid on others purchases they made even though the home wasn't a success. If you feel your skill level is that of 6 & 7 figure earners, (which most if not all will tell you to start out focusing on one thing and get good at it) then by all means DO IT no one is knocking multiple income streams, but if your new to the industry or are not having any growth then it makes much more sense to find out WHY???
Your Friend For Life,
Shenitta
Holy Cow!
If it can happen to a powerhouse like Ken... it could happen to anyone! Having 'been there, done that' I wonder now why so many of us feel as though we can play the game (no less win it) when we don't really know the rules?! Educate yourself about the industry. Learn from the experience of successful MLM-ers who have actually walked the walk and not just talked the talk. ;-)
You've heard what ASSUME is I'm sure
Your quote: " she profits on every recommendation she makes be it useful to what your doing or not."
Where would you get that impression?? An assumption on your part maybe??
I hope you aren't suggestion the store owner should not have sold the shovels because he knew 90% of them would fail? If that was the case than the "gurus" should stop charging $20 a month for their system as he knows 97% or more will fail.
I have a brother who owns a lumber yard and he stocks not only the lumber but he knows you are going to need shingles and windows and a bathtub and paint. Most people buy the whole package from him. Makes sense doesn't it - from both their points of view. Easier on the builder (doesn't have to shop around) - profitable for my brother.
I have a telephone service who provides me not only my telephone service but internet connection and TV service. Great marketing with great service. One stop shop.
Whether it's my brother or my phone company they provide me with options and I can choose which ones I take or not.
Same as my business. I have personally used what I recommend and anyone can choose to use them or not. Kind of like presenting your business opp to people. If you don't present they'll never find out - if you do and they say no, no big deal, there's lot of other people waiting to change their lives.
So do I mentor/coach and train? My strongest asset. I love it !
To your success,
Joyce Penner
Good reminder
Juanita,
Good reminder (though I must say a little harsh) that it is the company who owns the business not us.
I am curious though, what reason did they give (if you know it)?
scott...
