Whether you are starting out in network marketing or a veteran of this industry, you know that generating prospect leads is extremely important, in fact, the life blood of your business.
Your first line of prospect leads should be your family, friend and acquaintances. It is not recommended though that you hit up this list over and over and over again. Do not harass your family and friends or you won't have any friends.
Your warm market list is limited so the next step is to generate prospect leads. I am going to cover some cheap offline methods you can use.
The first step is to identify your target market.
It may sound crazy and it is crazy but a lot of people who start out marketing online pitch anything with a pulse and that does not make sense, furthermore it is a waste of time that bring no results.
Think "target marketing"!!!!
Think about what types of people would be your best prospects. I am marketing a health and wellness product, so my target market for prospect leads are the following.
A) current or inactive network marketers B) people interested in entrepreneurial business C) people interested in health, wellness and fitness
Now let's talk about specific ways of getting prospect leads.
Word of mouth: this is the best and cheapest way. Just ask people if they would be interested.
Referrals: just because someone is not interested does not mean they will not introduce you to someone who would be. Ask for referrals.
If a referral says no as well be sure to always be polite because you do not want to reflect badly on the person who referred you.
I have never done this, in fact it just occurred to me while writing this article, but you could offer gifts of some sort for successful referrals. I am going to try this :)
Let me teach you a cool trick :)
Let's say that John says "no" to me but refers Steve. I immediately go talk to Steve. Let's assume Steve decides he is going to join.
Do you know what I do next?
I tell Steve to hold on, I will be right back with him. I call John and tell him that Steve is joining and want to give him an opportunity to sign up Steve under him instead of directly under me.
This is so powerful as the fear of loss is a huge motivating factor.
Another method is going to networking events or meet-ups
When you are looking for events or meet-ups to go to keep in mind your target audience. this is so important. You do not want to go to a vegetarian meet-up if your product is steak :)
There is a right way and a wrong way to network and find prospect leads at these types of events.
The wrong way is to puke on them about how great your product, company, compensation plan are.....this will only annoy people.
The right way is to simply meet as many people as possible, communicate with them normally (ask a lot of questions about them, people love talking about themselves), and get their contact details.
Later, after the events, I would follow-up by saying hello and show them just a little info, I call this "sizzle info", just to get them interested.
