WARNING! This Is a "Rambling Rant" About The Price of Coffee These Days and Why It’s Good News for Network Marketers in The U.S. and Probably Everywhere Else Too...
Is it just me or does it seem like the price of home brewed coffee has doubled lately?
I “waltzed” into my local grocery store to buy coffee last week.
Would you believe that it now costs $9.59 to buy a tin of plain old Maxwell House coffee these days?
I said, a "tin of coffee".
But that's kind of stretching the truth...
They don't even use metal in these coffee "tins" these days...
They seriously package coffee in containers made out of recycled cardboard covered in reflective tinfoil now...
What is the world coming to?
You know I wonder about it some days....
The world is a crazy place.
Here's another crazy fact for you to contemplate...
In 1851 the New York Times Daily Edition sold for a penny.
Obviously the price has gone up a little since then.
But here's something even weirder...
What you might not know is that it has gone up even more since 1999.
In 1999 the New York Times daily edition cost $0.75.
In 2009 it went up to $2.00.
That's an increase 166.66% from 1999 to 2009 alone!
I’m sure that would be fine if the New York Times was the only thing suffering from insane price increases lately...
But it most certainly is not.
For example, in 1999 it cost $2.28 to withdraw cash from an ATM machine.
Now it costs over $3.54 at some places.
That's an increase of 55.26%!
Do you remember "back in the day" when you could simply walk in and withdraw your hard earned savings without getting robbed blind by your bank?
Do you remember what it feels like to talk to a real live human being when you visit your local bank? Most people these days do not.
I miss those days...
And don't even get started on the price of a gallon of gas...
Actually, let’s get me started on that...
I think this will hammer my point in...
In 1999 a gallon of gasoline cost approximately $1.30.
In 2009 it cost $2.56.
Yeppers, that's an increase of 96.92%!
What is the price of a gallon of gas today?
No idea.
But I do know that on May 10, 2010...
It averaged $2.91 country wide!
That's just not right.
I'm tempted to think that the worst part of this economic crisis hasn't even begun to hit us in full force yet...
In spite of so-called “financial experts” turning a blind eye to the facts...
Saying that we are in a “recovery”...
We most certainly are not...
I know that's terrible to say...
But I call it like I see it...
And in spite of all my “whining” today... I do have good news...
The good news is...
If you're running your own home based business or starting one....
Well then, the next couple of years of this “economic recovery” are going to be the most important years of your financial life...
How can I possibly say that?
It’s simple really...
There's a lot of tragedy happening these days...
That’s for sure...
But what most people don't know is that during trying times of economic crisis like we are experiencing today...
Whenever people are losing their jobs or income...
Well that is exactly when they are looking to leaders and entrepreneurs like you to show them the way to a fresh new beginning...
They are looking to you to lead them to financial success...
No matter where you are today with your business building skills...
Or your own personal financial success...
You are most definitely more experienced than somebody who has just started out on their journey to financial freedom...
And make no mistake, lots of ambitious men and women are still losing their jobs.
They are attracted to the opportunities presented by our industry....
You know I read this quote yesterday:
"During the worst years of the Depression (1933-1934) the overall jobless rate was 25% (1 out of 4 people) with another 25% taking wage cuts or working part time." Source.
What do you think is happening today?
What do you think the Unemployment Rate in this country is today?
Well, let’s look at November 23, 2010:
The Unemployment Rate for Nevada was 15.7%
In Michigan it was 12.8%
In California it was 12.4%
In Florida was 11.9%
And so on...
Of course, those are only the "reported" numbers...
Many experts disagree with those ones...
They say it's really much worse than what the government is telling us...
And that it’s going to get dramatically worse before it gets better...
What do you think? I don't know whether or not to believe in “them”.
I don't necessarily think it's a conspiracy.
But here's what I do know....
The people who make the most profit in tough economic times are the brave men and women who aren’t scared to face the truth...
What a lot of people don't know is that more millionaires were made during the Great Depression than during any other crisis in human history.
This is your golden opportunity to “grab the tiger by the tail” and build a legacy for yourself, your family, and your kids, or maybe even your grand kids...
Heck, maybe you’ll even be able to retire someday if you haven’t done so already?
So here’s to retirement! Preferably, early retirement...
Because it’s never too early or too late to retire!
But you will only be able to do so if you are prepared...
If you want to be prepared then I think you owe it to yourself to watch this video.
It’s by one of the most successful millionaires I know.
This video could very well change your life...
I have a hankering feeling that it may even save a life or two...
By the way, he will probably try to sell you something at some point in time.
If he does, then I suggest that you listen to what he has to say, and make your own informed decision about whether or not you should buy.
He certainly doesn't sell anything in this video here...
It’s simply the most thought provoking video about the current condition of our economy that I have personally seen in ages...
I wish he would make it available for download...

Hey, welcome to the so called "rest of the world"
As a reminder - it actually COSTS CASH to be alive down here. You're not ready for that? Well, that's your problem now, not ours ;).
BTW: Greetings from Europe ;)
Rant
I don't know what kind of comment that Adam left, however, I am glad to see I am not the only one who has noticed that the price of coffee had doubled this Christmas. Our economy in Canada hasn't improved much here either. Sharing in your misery! Teresa :)

This is why you need a Residual income not a slam Bam thank you Mama. The Middle income class will be in Asia and Africa none in the US. Better get on line and Start building a List.
Price of Gas
You are fortunate that gas is under $3.00/gallon. In Ontario it's around $1.12/liter which translates to about $4.50/gallon.
BTW, that was a great video. I'm not very knowledgeable about investments etc., but found the information easy to understand. Thanks for your post.
Glad you enjoyed the video Diane.
Ouch! I hear it's even worse in the U.K. than Canada.
It was something like $7 dollars a gallon one week not so long ago.
People were talking about protests because 1/3 of the price was taxes or something.
I thoroughly enjoyed the video myself.
I can't wait to see what's in store for Monday.
You can bet I'll be tuned in.
The Rant
I have watched the video, among others, more than 4-5 times. I am anxiously awaiting on Monday's arrival to get the "rest of the story" as Paul Harvey said. Mike said he can help people if they only have $30-$40 bucks a month to work with. I have great respect for Mike and can't wait to see what he can do for us. This is only the beginning of crap and it's going to get worse before it gets better and we need to get ready for it.
The Fix We're In
It's great to see financial educators like Mike and Robert Kiyosaki bring the reality of our plight to the masses. I grew up collecting Roman coins, so the concept of how governments screw the public out of the value their money represents is nothing new to me. Now, we have digital money and high-speed printing presses to speed up the process.
I watched a similar video with Mike Dillard and Ann Sieg discussing this critical issue. We're all waiting to see where they are going with this.
What I'm wondering is this: Are we still network marketers or are we going to be led off into some new distraction from our core business? How many separate businesses can we efficiently run?
Unless one has a lot of spare money to invest -- and knows what they're doing -- it doesn't make sense to get distracted from your core money-making business of network marketing, IMHO.
As Andrew Carnegie, one of America's first billionaires said, "Put all your eggs in one basket -- and then, watch that basket very carefully!"
Ignorance is bliss..
It seems the only people on this plant who are worried are the ones who are actively learning about the topic. The rest of the world could give two knots less to the right.
By that I mean everyone under 12 years old. After that age most kids are forced to listen to their ignorant school teachers talk about how under paid they are and how bad the situation is because they were to doped up to care about it when they were young.(oo wait the internet wasn't invented and books were to boring to read)..
To many of us have spent to many meals with the wrong financial advisers and look at the world now. Blame everyone else they will, it's easier that way.
At least the marketing department is capitalizing on the fear. The rich are getting super rich and the poor and broke will keep the bars and night life going until the booze runs dry.
Fivebucks has been peddling overpriced coffee for years and now you point out the fact that coffee is expensive. Come on you could have used apples or some kind of health food...ooo wait nobody cares about that stuff either. Lets talk about it on our next cigarette brake while we cry about gas too. Please give me a break.
Why isn't anyone questioning the two largest brands about there weekend trip to Mars..What do they know? Classic misdirection.
However it goes down...
However it goes down... one thing is for sure...
Monday's video is going to rock.
I'm as excited as everybody else is about the big reveal.
Personally, I'm hoping he's selling something big and expensive on that day too. Because there isn't enough of this knowledge available to people who want to know...
And in this day and age, that's a shame.
Seriously
I agree with several of the comments on the video, yet, I am waiting for my verdict as soon as the next video is released, however, I agree that we are in a strong financial change, I feel that we must be prepared! Right now, education and action are the most important assets we have..let's be ready..
George
Thank you
Love your thoughts Juanita, absolutely spot on from my view point in Australia also.
I'm afraid it's going to get
I'm afraid it's going to get worse before it gets better. We're not out of it yet. I heard someone mention on the news (it actually may have been 20/20 instead) the other day, that it will probably be another 5 years until we will recover from this mess.
However, there is ALWAYS opportunity in times like this.
So that's the "Silver Lining" on this very dark cloud.
