MLM Success For Jack & Jill

One of the choices most of us get to make on a daily basis while building our MLM business is between being right and being happy & successful. It amazes me how many people choose being right over MLM success.

By “being right”, I mean Jack using his mental energy to defend his position. And if Jack is right, that means … what?

Jill must be wrong. And isn ‘t Jill thrilled when Jack points that out to her? Clue: if those around you seem to be defensive, or if you feel the pressure to defend yourself, then chances are good you are in a “right-wrong” struggle with someone. A lot of us think that no matter how trivial an issue is, others MUST be corrected when they are wrong. Some people seem totally incapable of ignoring ANY perceived incorrect statement or point of view. And then they feel abused when the person who they have helpfully corrected doesn’t appreciate their efforts.

How often has someone corrected you and you said, “Oh, wow! Thanks for showing me how stupid I am. I sure wish I was as smart as you!”

Have you ever thanked anyone when they pointed out the error of your thinking?

Fact is, we all hate to be corrected. In our hearts, we want our ideas listened to, respected and understood. Jack & Jill and all the rest of us love and respect anyone who actually listens to us.

We resent and avoid those who habitually correct us.

Now … if you’re in the theater and you notice it’s on fire, and the person next to you says, “No, I think that’s part of the play,” THEN it’s OK to risk hurting their feelings by insisting that you are right. If you are presented with a serious ethical dilemma, then make your disagreement known, rather than silently consent. But most instances are trivial, except that our ego - our need to be right - tries to take control.

When Jack lets his MLM prospects and business partners and his family have the joy of being right, he feels greater inner peace. Conclusion? Just let it go. Let their comments stand. Those around you will be less defensive and more loving. They’ll appreciate you. Your reward is, you’ll not only be happier, but your MLM success will come faster. That’s way better than a battle of egos.
