My mentor - Michael Gerber and his EMyth Concepts

Building Online Businesses
 
The Entrepreneurial Myth is that entrepreneurs start businesses. More often, though it is a salesman or a technician so what they bring to the table is new and maybe better way "to do the business" rather than the knowledge and expertise of how to "build and a grow a business".
 
The key concepts from my current mentor, Michael Gerber (of EMyth fame) are systems and design. This is the basic formula by which he taught tens of thousands of offline business owners to build their businesses. The third item is it must be scaleable, that is, to grow big the business must be designed to be scaled so others can reproduce the same thing in the same way as the original entrepreneur. You may want to consider your own business in light of this to be sure it is scaleable.
 
If this is the proven method of building an offline business then certainly building online businesses should be done similarly. Michael Gerber’s 16 step “Golden Pyramid” method of building a business is the gold standard for building any small business. The details are in a previous post.
 
The day-to-day operations when building an online business must be set-up in such a way that we can focus our attention on growing the business, so we can take a vacation when we want, go to lunch when we want, OR start the next business! (This is the key thought from Michael Gerber’s previous work: Small business owners need to learn how to work ON their business and not IN their business – quite a jewel).
 
I can tell you from personal experience, now after 30 years of small business ownership this is much easier said than done but the EMyth principles will set you on target and help you get there.
