Network Marketing Success - Looking in All the Wrong Places?
You're excited. You've read books and articles from all the financial gurus like Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Trump and Paul Zane Pilzer. And they all recommend network marketing as the best vehicle to achieve wealth.
So you did some research on network marketing opportunities and selected one with a product you had passion for. Great, good start!
You dove in and attended all the company meetings and listened to all the training calls from your upline. But your checks are still small. Why???
It's probably because you're looking for network marketing success in all the wrong places. Have you been:
• making your names list
• calling everyone on your list... repeatedly
• attacking everyone you meet in the grocery store checkout line
• passing out fliers in coffeeshops
• buying leads and doing cold calls
• attending the Thursday night hotel meetings
Basically you've been doing everything you were taught... and yet you're not seeing that explosive growth in your downline... or your commission checks.
I'm not surprised. The techniques described above are outdated. They may have worked decades ago, and they may be working for the select few at the top... but they don't work for the majority of us.
Because in this century everyone is inundated with radio & TV commercials, e-mail SPAM, door-to-door solicitors, junk mail... the list is endless. We get hit with a barrage of aggressive, in-your-face advertisements every day. We've become numb to those tactics and simply tune them out.
Worse yet, you're probably not approaching your target market. What's a target market? It's a specific group of consumers that are likely to be interested in what you're selling.
How interested are your friends and family, PTA members, coffee drinkers, and grocery shoppers in network marketing? They most likely have J-O-Bs and aren't thinking about other options. So they aren't interested in your network marketing opportunity.
It's easier to make a repeat sale than it is to make a new sale. This means it's easier to sell a network marketing opportunity to someone who's joined network marketing before. That's your target market.
How do you find network marketers? On the Internet. If they've been using the same outdated recruiting methods that you have, then they probably aren't having much success either. So they're likely to be on the Internet looking for information about network marketing success. Everyone is starved for good quality information and if you can provide it, you become a solutions provider.
Attraction Marketing
That's the first step in Attraction Marketing (Reverse Marketing), which means attracting potential prospects to you rather than chasing people. Do you get tired of hounding disinterested leads? Wouldn't it be a lot more fun to have pre-sold prospects coming to you?
That's why Attraction Marketing is gaining momentum as the preferred marketing strategy for modern network marketers. This strategy gets results for the majority, not the minority... a strategy for network marketing success.
So how do you implement an Attraction Marketing strategy? As I said earlier, on the Internet. How do you go about that? I recommend that you start with a blog, a web log. Blogs are simply online journals that everyone can read. And some of them are very powerful and can be used much like a website.
Start blogging about your experiences with network marketing... the good, the bad, and the ugly. :-) This helps to answer these questions that all potential prospects have:
1. is s/he real
2. can I trust her/him
3. will s/he help me
The key to success in Attraction Marketing is developing a relationship that establishes that trust. So in your blog posts share lots about you, your family, your background... and pictures. Show your prospects that you're real.
Blogging also accomplishes another important thing... it helps you to find your writing "voice." You want a friendly style that's not unprofessional. And talk "with" your readers, not "to" them. Make your readers feel like you're having a conversation with a friend.
The second aspect of Attraction Marketing is giving away something of value for free. What's valuable that you're willing to give away? Information. Provide content-rich information that potential prospects are looking for and they will trust you even more. You have to give away free stuff BEFORE you ever ask for a sale. Since you're a newbie, I recommend just sharing valuable information in the beginning. Save the selling for later.
