Niche Marketing- What's Your Expertise?
What is your niche?
I see a lot of marketing professionals really limiting themselves these days. Limiting in that all you are doing is selling someone elses stuff. Many of you are over looking the niche YOU can fill by sharing what you know.
If you come from finance, blog about it. You are still a value to people who would love to have someone to ask questions to. Even if you aren't in that industry anymore as long as your knowledge is up to date you can still help others.
If you come from insurance, real estate, etc you get the idea. YOU know things.
Now lets get real NICHED...
I'm going to include links to a website as I list this information so that you can SEE what I am talking about.
I live on Emerald Isle Farm, all women owned and operated, right down to the flashy 4x4 Kioti tractor. Here my sister Patricia and her daughter Cc have built a successful and nationally recognized farm for the Holistic approach to conserving Endangered Bloodlines of
Old Fashioned Traditional Siamese Cats,
and Plant Stock including Aquatics.
The Farm received National Awards and recognition through Cc's FFA (Future Farmers of America) career where the Cats won the Nationals in 2005 and the Nursery Made the Top 4 in 2007. It has also been the center piece Spotlight for several Publications on and off the web.
The Farm too gets Global recognition as Patricia is one of the maintaining and founding members of the Quarter Pony Association.
The point to this is simple.
Patricia had real world skills and knowledge that she could teach in a duplicatable manner to her daughter as well as use her skills to create healthy animals that people have as Members of their families for years to come. Even years in their garden because Patricia will always let you know how to care for the plants the same way she does the animals.
Teaching her daughter a duplicatable system propeled Cc's career in the FFA all the way to State Vice President of the Kentucky FFA in her final year and the request to run for National Presidency which due to her Medical School schedule in college, she declined to pursue.
Patricia gives How to Guru a new spin.
This is what excited her, what she could be passionate about. It simply did not make sense to work for someone else when all she had to do was figure out a way to monetize what she loved to do.
You can see from the links above that she has what these niche markets are looking for.
Her skills only add to the Expertise that she can bring to her clients.
For years Patricia worked at some of the top Vet's Offices in Kentucky and Texas. She even worked with The Exotic Doc (Doc Foster) of the Louisville Zoo. Her love and appreciation of animals was something that after years of working with them she had a pleathera of information and skill that she could put to good use. This is her field of Expertise!
I have seen her get a call at 11 p.m. from someone who purchased a horse. They might have a question about breeding, maybe the horse ate too much spring grass and got upset stomache, she will walk them through what they need to do so when they call the vet for follow up, the vet knows all the basics are done and its time to get down to business. Its saves the owners time, the vet time and keeps Patricia in the loop as a valuable resource!
Keeping yourself as a valued resource is a great way to end up with repeat business. Over time Patricia has placed more than one animal or plant with a repeat buyer. She also gets a ton of referrals from her past client base.
Whats next for Patricia and the all women operated farm? The horizon shows major promise in expanding the "all women" part of the farm to help teach the next generation. The county is getting ready to open up the FFA Equine Program again and they are already talking to Patricia about contributing her expertise. I'll keep you posted.
So here is my question what is your Niche that you can monetize?
Have you thought about it?
