No Animals Were Hurt During This Experiment…Just Enraged and Brainwashed!
You may have heard about an experiment that took place in the 1960s that involved monkeys, bananas and a pole (or ladder—I’ve heard different variations; I’ll use pole for this article). If you’re familiar with this, I hope you enjoy the refresher; if not, hopefully you’ll possibly gain some insight to yourself or others!
Apparently some scientists placed a small group of monkeys in a room, along with a pole and a bunch of bananas near the top of the pole. Whenever one of the monkeys tried to climb the pole to grab a banana, the monkey would be doused with cold water, sending it scrambling back down the pole. Subsequently—when each monkeys had tried to get the prize at the top of the pole, each was doused with the water when they tried.
Eventually the scientists replaced one of the original monkeys with a new one. When the new monkey tried to climb the pole to get a banana, the others pulled him down, effectively telling him that he couldn’t/shouldn’t even try to climb the pole. He kept trying until he succumbed to their “protection”.
Soon, another new monkey replaced an original one, and was treated the same when it tried to climb the pole. Eventually, it too gave up.
Before too long, all of the original monkeys had been replaced, leaving only monkeys in the room that had never been doused with water. Although none of them knew WHY they weren’t supposed to climb the pole, they just knew that something terrible must await them, so none of them dared even try!
Sound like something our concerned, protective friends, family and neighbors might tell us regarding that MLM or Networking “thing” we’re doing? “That will never work!” or “My cousin’s wife’s sister tried that once and she failed miserably!” While it’s important to respect other’s opinions, we don’t have to adopt those opinions—especially if those opinions come from people who may not understand that there’s a right way and a wrong way to building a network marketing business, just like everything else in life! I would hope that if those same people would seek guidance at their J-O-B if they weren’t having success.
For the rest of us—let’s climb the pole and reach our prize!

This is a great example Lahai!
By understanding the behavior patterns of animals, we can get some good insights on why we "educated" human beings do the things we do. I wonder if people are truly concerned when they try to drag you down to their level, or if they feel threatened that you may actually succeed in life, and leave them in the dust? May be a combination of both, with all the negativity associated with Network Marketing these days...
You've got to blaze your own
You've got to blaze your own path on matter what, sounds like the crabs in a barrel mentality to me.Human behavior is a funny thing either you're a follower or a leader you can't be both. Its not weather you fall down that matters its whether you get back up that counts.Determination and persistence equals success and you're right while we must respect the opinions of others we don't have to adopt them.Nice article Lahai.
And so Many Have been hurt with the MLM Experiment
Because they were not educated. This is a Great Story and with a little education we can change the way people get started in a Home Base Business. Education should come 1st. Learn what Poles actually have real Bannanas at the Top and which just have Cold Water LOL.

Let's climb!
Let's climb to the top of our poles and show others how to do the same! Team work is where it's at! We CAN do it together!!

As it should be
Just like the Dentist, you have to go learn special skills before he can fill a cavity. Likewise, as network marketers, we must learn specialized skills as well to build a solid foundation. Its great to know that there is a system and great mentors and coaches in place that will help you cut your teeth and help you every step of the way.
Hi Lahai im loving your article
Hi Lahai im loving your articles!!!! I had a laugh with this one and could'nt help posting a comment because it reminds me of when i was starting out in a male dominated profession....When i was taken up for a peek in the air traffic controllers tower and introduced as the new flying student the guy looked me up and down and exclaimed "well s#%t they put monkeys in space"......well i can tell you that was only the start of an onslaught of jibes/comments/harassment over the years but i wanted my license and thats all i focused on....i must be a sucker for punishment because i have found similer in my MLM business......im never giving up with my MLM business and with inspiring articles like yours Lahai and others i have read in the community this is a great site to be on and its great to read inspiring articles and other peoples success in this business!!!
That banana is going to taste that much better though once i reach it....
Having Fun Climbing the Pole
I know I am having fun climbing the pole and am willing to help anyone else who would like to climb to the top with me.

Never heard it put that way!
I have to agree with Kevin that is very reminiscent of the crab-in-a-barrel mentality, though I’ve never heard it put this way. It does indeed of great insight into the behavior rather that just labeling people as damn crabs.
This was very insightful. Thanks you.
