OPEN MINDED OR ...TRAITOR!!
Hey Troops, I'm back!!! This time I bolted the doors you you can't run!! LOL! Ok the thought or the question is "Open minded or Traitor!!" Sounds really Dumb Huh!!?? Well, its not, I encounter it all the time. The stumble comes from the old. = "Do it My way Or Hit the Highway!!"
Most of us have encountered this in our lives, Heck, it took forever to get Grand Ma to use a Micro Wave!! But in business it can be worse. Shoot! every office I have been in, has a microwave in the break area!! LOL! But what do you do when the Boss is a real "MY Way" kind of guy!!! Or Gal!!
In an Office with a fixed salary, you have to play the game their way, because your job may be on the line, if you don't. ...!! So God Bless those who can do their jobs in the face of ignorance and not say a word!! That's tough for me!! So I guess that's why they invented Duck Tape!!
In this industry, you are your own boss!! So here its the double whammy your, sponsor, mentor, whoever, may have had massive success and is stuck on the > "If it ain't Broke, Don't FIX IT!! Routine!" Yet from your teenage kids, to the people here on Better Networker, you are hearing about new technologies, or successful Marketing techniques. What to Do? What to Do?? and you see only 2 choices, swallow a few Valiums and grin and bare it or, Tow the line like a happy trooper and forget your Ideas.
Well shoot me quick b/c in the Corporate world and in the Networking world, I always kept an open mind. Not always to my betterment, in the Corporate world. Ouch!! And that was usually due to a mid management egghead, who Kissed a lot of A!..A!...APPles to get where he / she was. But now I work for and with my Group and the wax is so out of my ears, its not funny!!!. We work as a team, and no good idea goes un-heeded.
The best part is, if someone has an idea in this industry, we can let them RUN with it, with out disruprting the group itself, we function better as a group b/c experimentation does not have to be replicated by everyone. As a Group, we share info and the best of the best ideas. So you are asking meekly, LOL!! "What if I don't have a group,!" Well Mr. Shy Guy, if you are reading this: "WHAT THE HECK DO YOU THINK BETTER NETWORKER IS!" he said in a way that made Verizon Wireless, "Can You Hear Me Now!!" , Jealous!!
The Bottom line is; go with your instincts, toss out your ideas to those who know, and if assured, proceed with them. Worst case scenario, "You can always FIRE yourself!", LOL! And IF it works for you, and we all hope it does, when you are at the awards banquet for your company, and you know you went against someones individual perameters, Keep that a secret!! While accepting your trophy, and you are supposed to explain to the crowd how you achieved your success; Look the crowd directly in the eye and simply say. "I Cheated!!, thank-you very much!" and walk off the stage!!
Oh! one more thing, the above IS... Atttraction Marketing, LOL!! and your phone will be ringing off the hook!! LOL!! You sly little MENTOR, YOU!! LOLaLOT!

Hi Tom
Good One!! It's always hard to go against the status quo, or what is comfortable. I am way out of my comfort zone, I am so close I mean I have started and I am learning more every day, like I think my article didn't go over well. Oh well it is my first after all. :) Self doubt gets in the way occasionally. Not so much right now. But it is a factor some days.
So thank you for the go ahead to be different.

Good Article you speak my mind
I do get fired by one of previous company as I am trying new ways to increase the speed of my work. My boss just cannot accept it and feel that I am not following the team's tradition way of doing. That's why not all bosses are open minded.
In MLM, there is still some mentors or leaders who just refuse to accept new ideas. They think their ways is the right way, the only way. True, maybe it is their way that make them success, but their way may not guarantee my success. Maybe they are used to be bosses and managers and treated downlines like employees and subordinates instead of business associates. They ask everyone to go to training meetings, but refuse to upload the video or voice recording on the website for those that missed.

And they do a investigation and find out you did. Like some companies do not allow you to use internet like ambit energy. You can be Terminated lose your check. So even though you were told you are your own Boss in Many Companies that just is not True. Read your P and P's.

Well, my mind is so open, that sometimes I think my brains might fall out. You can not be a "My Way or the Highway "kinda person or you are doomed to fail your downline. If your mentor or coach is a closed minded person because that is what worked for them that is fine, But find another coach or mentor! I know that sounds harsh, But if they are closed minded they are not looking out for your interest, only theirs because everyone is DIFFERENT and what works for one may not work for you. That is the beauty of this business. The ability to find what works FOR YOU! But just remember that if it got them success they couldn't be totally wrong, so just take what you can from them and then customize to your personallity,

Great comments guys, and gals, I hope everyone laughed, as much as I did writing the peice. Opened minded was the key!! And not to let any ""Old PHart" Hold you back!! Juanita Waterman's comment blew my mind, There is really a company that does not let their members, use the internet?? What do they suggest "Smoke Signals" or have they upgraded to telegraph!! WOW!
First the "I cheated Line" was a gag, that I pulled off when as a rookie on wall street! I hit the top 10 out of 37K brokers, national awards dinners in Ten cities, Closed circuit Live TV!! Well I pulled it off, it was hysterical. But I hope none of you would try to do that!! I have a show biz, back ground, and can deliver a line!! Juanita is right, very risky, laugh at the story but don't go there. And don't go near any company like Andbite (myButt) Energy either. LOL Companies like that get bad mouthed and that spreads and ads to the Stigma, still shaowing our GREAT Industry!!
