Persistence Is Priceless

Cornel Sanders retired at the age of 65, at that time he had an income of about $150.00 and little else to show. What he had of value was an old family recipe for fried chicken.

Realizing that amount of pension money would not sustain him so he set out to contact restauranters in hopes of making some money on his recipe. He was looking for a royalty of a nickel per piece of chicken.

He contacted one restaurant after another until he had made 1008 ptesentations with out any results. On the 1009th contact he found a restauranter that gave him his first yes. After 2 tears he had signed up only 5 customers.

This did not discourage him because he knew he had a really great product and he just knew that once the word started to get out it would catch on.

You know how the story ends. The idea DID catch on. By 1963 the Colonel had 600 restaurants across the country selling his secret recipe for Kentucky Fried Chicken (with 11 herbs and spices).

In 1964 he was bought out. Even though the sale made him a multi-millionaire, he continued to represent and promote KFC until his death in 1990.

The Colonel had made other attempts to develop businesses. He had a gas station, a restaurant in the 1930's and 40's both of which wound up in failure.

Harland Sanders decided that his chicken was the right thing would not give up in spite of continuous rejection. He new if he maintained a prohibitive attitude and kept knocking on doors that someone would say yes.

I Love This Story

It always give me great encouragement to think about the persistance Col. Sanders displayed in believing in his idea so much, be became unstoppable and came out on top despite rejection after rejection.

Persistence

often wins in the face of "insurmountable odds." Not only Col. Sanders, whose chicken is one of my favorites, but some of the world's best authors, have experienced rejection after rejection.

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance was rejected 121 times before a publisher told Robert Pirsig to do a massive rewrite and resubmit it.

Ray Bradbury had over 1,000 rejections for his books and short stories.

Judy Blume received "nothing but rejection slips for 2 years" before getting her first book published.

Marcel Proust self-published his works after being rejected

Jonathan Livingston Seagull was rejected 117 times before being published. It is now available in 30 languages and has sold over 18 million copies.

J.K Rowling spent six years writing the first Harry Potter book. It was rejected 14 times before a publisher took it on. She is now the best selling children's author of all time. Her 4th and 5th books had the largest initial print runs in the history of publishing!

Let's take the lead of these successful people and keep on keeping on. Persistence pays!

Today

Today the wind and snow was blowing, roads were slick, so I went through my list of prospects over the last few months and made calls all afternoon, just checking on them to see how they were doing. It was fun and on one call, the man ... a busy leader and quite successful said to me: I knew it was you Connie, I answered your call because I admire your persistence. It took me back... We had a lovely long visit.

Let me tell you the secret that has led me to my goal: my strength lies solely in my tenacity.

Very Encouraging!

This is a great story about persistence. This is something I need everyday to carry on with my goals I have set for myself. This is the advice I need on a daily basis to keep on keepin on. Network marketing can be very tough and frustrating at times. With persistence, I know my efforts will pay off. Thanks once again for amazing me with your astounding knowledge.
