“Analysis Paralysis: WHY it Happens, and How to Get “Unstuck”

As more and more people come online and are exposed to the network marketing and internet Marketing industries, they are flooded with advertisements from “gurus” everywhere, and in a misguided effort, they like some of you, get stuck in “Analysis Paralysis” and never really get started.
 
So why does this happen?… how do you get “unstuck” and get started on the right foot to building a profitable enterprise that will bring you the lifestyle and time freedom you so deeply desire?… While these are great questions, let me ask you this so you don’t waste your time…
 
Why should you listen to me? Well, 6 months ago, I discovered the fantastic industry of network marketing, and saw the brilliance in the application of technology and systems to grow my business. Unfortunately, I quickly became a victim of information overload and didn’t really know how to start and where to look…
 
So I began my journey online, and experienced the pain that many new networkers face online. The Monster of Distraction, or you probably know it as “Analysis Paralysis”. I began to study marketing materials from Mike Dillard, Ann Sieg, Jonathan Budd, and the folks over of My Lead System Pro (MLSP), but after 5 months of studying, I realized that all of this knowledge I had acquired hadn’t grown my business one bit, because I got distracted and started looking for the “Magic Bullet”.
 
After doing some introspection, and really thinking about what I was doing wrong in my business, I being a bone-head realized that all this marketing knowledge is useless without application and action. So I made a decision, to leave behind laziness and fear, and instead just do it, and fix the details along the way.
 
So back to the main questions, why does this happen? And how do you get “unstuck” and start actually building a business utilizing the power of the internet. “Analysis Paralysis” in my experience comes from fear. What does that mean? Well let’s explore… If you believe like I did that you must learn everything about marketing before you start marketing, you will be running what my mentor Cedrick refers to as “a non-profit business from the discomfort of your own home.” What this comes down to is that you probably have a fear of failure or success, and that barrier is keeping you from taking action.
 
To overcome this fear, you must realize that if you know just 1 helpful insight about marketing, or networking, and any other skill set that is imperative to success in this industry, you have value to offer to someone who is looking for help… Remember success is a journey. You might fail at times, but get up brush yourself off, find the lesson at hand to learn, and move on… Thomas Edison was a famous inventor, but it took him 10,000 plus tries to successfully create the lightbulb. He didn’t discount the 10,000 tries as failures, instead he saw it as 10,000 ways he learned not how to make a lightbulb. The principle is the same in building your business. If you find something that is not working, tweak it, and keep testing it, and over time, results will happen.
 
Now that you have seen WHY “Analysis Paralysis” takes place, here are some insights from my experience that will help you get unstuck. The first thing you need to do is take an inventory of your skills and interests, and develop a marketing plan around that. For example, if you love to write, and are a naturally creative person, and have the time, do Content Marketing. If you love connecting with people, Social Media is a good place to start for you. If you have the budget, and are naturally logical and analytical, consider paid strategies such as Pay Per Click as a fast track to generating leads quickly.
 
The second step to getting “unstuck” is to plug in to a community of other marketers who can help you in any stage of your business. The BetterNetworker community is the top online resource to start. In this community, you get to connect with other marketers, build an online presence and reputation, and develop relationships with other leaders while in the process of becoming one yourself.
 
The final step is to find a mentor who can help you get started quickly and effectively, so you actually have a profitable business. I recommend finding a mentor who is having success online, and can direct you to the right resources to get started quickly and profitably. As a note, I do not recommend building your own system at first, instead use a proven funded proposal system that brands you, and is designed with multiple streams of income so you can create a marketing budget to work with and grow your business more quickly, increasing your overall profits.
 
A final piece of advice… Success in this industry starts with you.
