7 Simple Steps To Running Your Business And STILL Enjoying Your Summer

Summertime...

And the livin' is easy

Or is it???

Summer is in full swing.

Time for beach parties, BBQs and ball games

It's also the time that many network and Internet
marketers begin to slack off, which creates the
ideal playing field for those who realize how
important it is to keep working.
(more on that another time)

But can you continue to move your business
forward and STILL enjoy your summer?

The answer is YES!

It IS possible to take care of business activities
with plenty of time left for fun in the sun.

About "Time Management"

First, I'd like to suggest that the phrase, "Time
Management" can actually work against us by subtly
removing the responsibility for self-discipline.

Let me explain...

We all have the exact same number of hours in a
day, days in a week, etc., right?

And there is absolutely NOTHING that any of us can
do to change that or prevent time from passing.

Yet many people accomplish TONS on a daily/weekly
basis while others seem to be at a virtual standstill.

Ever notice that folks never seem to get anything
done will nearly always point to "not having enough
time" as one of their primary reasons for their lack
of accomplishment?

Constantly telling ourselves (and others) "I'm just
not good at time management," only reinforces the
notion that we aren't responsible or that there's
some magic formula we need.

Sure, there are "time management" tricks and skills
that we can develop, but accept the fact that NO ONE
can "manage" time.

What we CAN do is manage OURSELVES in the time that
we're all given.

And that's just a matter of planning and self discipline.

"Chunking" Your Time

I found the solution to running a successful business
and still having the time to enjoy life...which is WHY
I started my own business in the first place...was to
divide my week into sections, or "chunks" that create
a template for all my activities, both business and personal.

It's a simple process, but I suggest you set aside at
least 30 minutes during which you'll be free from
interruptions and distractions.

Then follow these steps:

1) Draw or print a weekly calendar on a blank piece
of paper listing the days of the week across the top
and the hours in the day down the left side.  You may
want to exclude the hours when you're normally sleeping.
Note: There are many free printable calendars online.
Just type "free printable calendar" into Google.

2) Block out all the time for your regular activities.
i.e. mealtime, work, church, grocery shopping,
personal/self-development time, etc.

3) Now look at all the activities you already know
about. Weddings, birthday parties, kids' ball games,
etc. and block the times they would normally occur

4) Decide which day(s) and time(s) you want to block
time for "summer fun," you know...splashing in the
pool, having friends over for a BBQ, that sort of
thing. And be realistic here. If you normally engage
in these activities three times a week, block out
three time chunks.

5) Look over your page and assign at least one
"chunk" per day for your business. During these times,
do NOTHING ELSE but those activities that will grow
your business and generate income. This is NOT the
time to learn a new skill or make your blog look
pretty. These hours are for prospecting, recruiting,
marketing, etc.

6) Based on your chosen prospecting/marketing methods,
assign SPECIFIC activities to each time chunk. For
example, if you've blocked Mon through Friday from
1:00 to 4:00 for working your business, you may list "call
prospects" in the 1:00 to 2:00 pm slot every day and
"marketing" in the 3:00 to 4:00 pm spot on Mondays,
Wednesdays and Fridays. Again, be realistic and don't
assign tasks that you likely won't do.

7) Stick to your schedule. It may take some self-discipline
initially, but consistently working your business
during the times you've blocked for it is CRITICAL
to your success.

And let those close to you know that during these
times you aren't available for drop -in visits,
chatting on the phone and the like. You are at WORK...
for yourself and your future.

Enjoy Your Summer

If you're like most people, you'll find that you
actually have more time than you thought to work
your business, and now that you have a guide in front
of you, it's simply a matter of following it.

Learn to manage yourself in the time you have and
you'll be able to move your business forward this
summer while everyone else is goofing off.

When you've outlined specific times to do what you
need to do...and stick to them...you'll be surprised
at how much you'll be able to accomplish AND enjoy
your summer at the same time!!
