An Alternative Way to Approach Your Warm Market

When you join a network marketing company, there is a good chance that you will be instructed by your sponsor, upline, and/or company to make a list of everyone you know. This is a list of family, friends, coworkers, doctor, dentist, etc. This is your warm market, or more precisely, your existing warm market. I say your existing warm market because if you are effectively networking and connecting with people, your cold market is gradually becoming your warm market. Once you have your existing warm market list, what you do with it can determine your success or failure in this business. If you are planning to run out and tell them that you just joined this great business opportunity and they need to join, STOP! Unless you have extremely thick skin, this is the quickest way to become discouraged and quit within your first 90 days. You will get mild negativity to flat out laughed at by most of these folks. But a few reasons why you don't want to market your business to these people right away are:

1. Most of them are not looking to start a business.

2. If they are lured in by the hype and hope to get rich quick, they will soon get discouraged and become part of network marketing's 97% failure rate

3. They are not qualified to run a business and more importantly, they have no desire to learn how.

4. You don't want to alienate them if the business doesn't work for them (or you for that matter).

5. Only 10% of the population are entrepreneurs. The rest have the 9-5 job mentality.

A better approach is to get your existing warm market interested in your product line. Show them the benefits of what your selling and the benefits of buying it from you. It's much easier to sell them a useful product than a business opportunity. Think about it, if you sold cars, your warm market would gladly buy their cars from you to save money or maybe even just to help you out. However, how many of them would come work with you in the car business? Probably none right? So your first goal should be to sell them a product. Then natural human curiosity takes over. Even if they don't buy your product, almost all of them will ask you questions like "How long have you been doing this?" or "How did you get started?" or "Do you make good money selling this?". Now they have given you an opening to casually pitch them your business opportunity. Now instead of you forcing your presentation on them, they are actually listening because they asked for the information! A few of them will ask for more information and those are the ones that are potential recruits. For the rest who show no interest, get some referrals. Just casually tell them that if they know anyone who wants to earn some extra income, be sure to let you know.

Now let's talk about your future or growing warm market. As I said earlier, as you network and connect with people, your warm market is growing. The key is to grow your warm market with people who are qualified and interested in finding out about your business opportunity. So how do you get these people into your warm market? You do it by branding yourself as a leader and a person of value who can help others be successful. When you do this, you won't have to find these people because they will be naturally drawn to you. It's a fact that people are attracted to people who are successful or people who can help them be successful. Also a fact: Attraction is not a choice, it is an involuntary reaction that people cannot control. There are some marketing concepts that you need to master to spark this attraction in people.
