Are You Busy, OR Are You Productive?
There are times to play and there are times to work ... and the 2 shouldn't really be in the same bowl. The old mantra "Work hard, Play hard" holds true for many different reasons. What it doesn't say is "Play Work Hard".. "play work", or pretend work is a hobby, and hobbies rarely play well if at all.
While you should make work a fun activity (in my opinion), hard work produces tangible results and pride, while playing only produces smiles (when you don't feel guilty after for doing it!).
Smiles are very important, but they don't pay the rent.
There are lots of ways people fool themselves into thinking they're working (being productive) when they're only being busy (Getting ready to get ready)
Lets lay some of these out here...
Busy...
filtering spam email
Installing software/Ring tones
Cleaning your desk (anything really)
Cutting the grass
Playing Farmville
Watching yet another training video
Productive...
Sorting Targeted Leads
Writing and submitting articles/press releases
Cashing cheques (my fav!)
Speaking at events
Producing videos/interviews
Optimizing your leads/sales funnel
Masterminding with relevant peers
Find the Best Use of your Time!
For sure there are things keeping you busy that do need to be done, like cutting the grass for example. But what is the value of your time? If you value your time at even a low $50/hr, it's a lot cheaper to hire the neighbor's child to cut it once a week for $10. When you use your time productively you will turn the hour you would have been cutting your grass into $40 or more if you prooduce higher value.
The Time Management Myth
You don't really have the ability to manage time either. It happens weather you use it effectively or not. There is no taking some time from the past and bringing it forward to reuse or redo. The only thing you can really manage is yourself within time. Develop a rhythm for your life that plays the beat which guides you through productive days marching down the path of your abundant life.
Spend your time making great days and they will add up to a great life. Don't hold back.

Busy vs. Productive
Great points Jeremy...I think all of us fall into that trap sometimes. Another pet peeve of mine is these people that are always getting ready to work...this is OK but most of them never get to work, they just keep on getting ready.
Busy vs. Productive
Great insight Jeremy. I teach my team to ask them self this question. "Is this an income generating activity or will it lead to income? Most people who are building a home based business are doing it on a part time basis (5-20 hours per week) in hopes of eventually going full time. If you are working towards full time you must maximize your time and spend it on income generating activities or activities which will lead to income other wise you are delaying your goal and dream of going full time! Be productive not busy.
Great Post
You're dead on with this post because people are more busy with non money making activities than anything else. The difference between the rich and poor is the way they spend there time.
