Be One with the Bike – Taking Your Online Home Business Head On

Read More: Discipline

Today my husband and I drove to Bandera TX to eat breakfast at the Old Spanish Trail restaurant, the famous OST.  Bandera is known as the Cowboy capital of the world and is about 30 miles from our house.  We went on my husband’s “bike,” a Bergstrom 650. The Bergstrom is really a scooter...but it’s not your typical scooter.

I have driven on the scooter with my husband before, but not for 30 miles and not at speeds up to 70 mph. So I was a weeeee bit nervous.

I found the curves unnerving. I stress out just trying to relax and stay calm. Most of them were okay.  But there were a few that were sharp and long. I had to fight against having visions of the bike falling over and me being tossed across the highway into oncoming traffic.

I got through the curves by sometimes closing my eyes (although I forced myself to keep them open most of the time), praying, taking deep breaths, and leaning forward slightly. I couldn’t lean to far forward though, because I would bump the front of my helmet on the back of my husband’s helmet. The best strategy that helped was telling myself to “be one with the bike.”

Sometimes your online home business can be a lot like taking those curves. You have to face obstacles, problems, and do new things. And it can be very intimidating. But if you want to get where you’re going, you have to take those curves head on and work through them.  Figure out what you need to do and just do it.

And although the curves can be nerve racking, you’ll get through them and be better and smarter...and not to mention more confident and ready to take on new challenges.

So be one with your business.  After all, your business is about you. I do recommend you keep your eyes open though…and try not to bump your head too hard.

I had a good time riding the bike today. It was very exhilarating having the wind whipping on you and the sights and smells were so much more vivid than when you’re in a car.  I also liked the etiquette bikers have to acknowledge each other when they pass on the road.  Oh, and I think my husband really liked me riding with him…I guess it’s an ego thing, having your chick ridin' with you.

I guess we’ll be taking more trips to Bandera and maybe other places. In fact, my husband told the kids they may wake up one morning  and find their parents gone on a road trip with no idea of when and if they’ll be coming back.

And who knows, maybe I’ll get my own bike one day (at least that’s what my husband is hoping for… and has been for quite a few years).

P.S. Ladies, if you ever eat at the OST, be sure you go use the restroom. They have some pictures of really good looking cowboys in there. ;-)
