Edwin Barnes was unstoppable

            Edwin Barnes would not give up on what he wanted to get for the remainder of his life. He had two obstacles that would take almost everybody except him out of the game. He did not know Thomas Edison and he did not have the money for transportation to meet him in Orange, New Jersey. Barnes hopped on a freight train to go meet Thomas Edison and he dressed up pretty filthy. That gave Edison a good reason to get rid of Barnes. However, Barnes facial expression communicated strong enough with Edison that he wanted to be his partner eventually was strong enough for Edison to keep him. For months nothing had happened but Barnes remained ready to take action no matter if it took him for ever and meant it. Finally the time came when Thomas Edison made a new office device called the Edison Dictating Machine, however his salesmen were not enthusiastic over the machine. They did not believe it could be sold without great effort. The only people who were interested in it were Thomas Edison and Barnes.

           Edwin Barnes knew that that was a product that people were raving for so he knew told to Edison that he could sell the product, therefore Edison gave him a chance. Barnes sold the machine so successfully that Edison gave him a contract to distribute it and market it all over the nation.

               The slogan of the product that Barnes sold was called "Made by Edison and installed by Barnes," but the real point is that Barnes proved that one may really "Think and Grow Rich."
