How To Work Less And Earn More
You're probably well aware of what wasting time is all about. This is especially true if you are currently working at an 8 hour a day job or have ever done so in the past. A job requires you to be a time waster in order to "fit in." Did you know that most employees could get double the work done in half the hours that they currently work? Now, I'm not saying that all employees could do this because I understand many are strapped for time as it is. Trust me, I've been there before and I can certainly relate to a day filled with endless work.
However, I also understand that just because you are busy, it doesn't mean you are productive. Being busy and being productive are two different things and this is something you need to learn if you intend to do well in the network marketing industry. Being a successful Entrepreneur requires you to become extremely efficient and stop doing the things that have no effect to your bottom line. These types of things would include checking email or voice mail excessively, straightening up your desk, working on easy projects that aren't productive, doing administrative tasks or anything else that won't help you reach your goals. We call these types of things "busy work."
Busy work can absolutely destroy your chance of success!
One thing you will want to avoid as an Entrepreneur is treating it like a job. You don't have to sit at your desk for 8 hours in order to feel like you've accomplished something. Don't have the mindset of an employee because you will be very unproductive if you do. Instead, focus on the BIG things each day that will have the most impact on your business and get busy with them. Let's look at some examples...
Example 1
You spend 8 hours doing things that you think will help your business such as surfing the internet for business cards, T-shirts and other business related items that will help you promote your business. You check email 20 times throughout the day hoping to get a magic email that will turn your life around. You put off making the calls that could change your business and instead opt to listen to a self help program that will help you become a better speaker when you finally do make the calls.
Your day consists of these types of things and by the end of the day, you haven't talked to a single prospect or made contact with anyone in a meaningful way for growing your business. You could say that these 8 hours where wasted on "busy work" and your time could have been better spent. This is the route that most people will take because doing the things that matter are uncomfortable.
Example 2
You begin your day by making calls to a few prospects that you have on your list or in your email marketing funnel. You find one or two that are interested and put them on a 3 way call with an expert and while others are doing busy work, you have already gotten reps joining your company. Now after only an hour or two, you haven gotten more accomplished than the person in example 1 above. Why? Because you went for the BIG projects first that would make the most impact in your business. Top leaders know that they need to get the most uncomfortable things out of the way first because these are the things that have the most impact on their business. Stop doing the little things that don't matter only to seem busy. The little things can be done in your spare time.
This is a prime example of working less and achieving more. All you do is focus on the things that matter during your time of work. Don't allow the little "busy work" type of things to take over your life. Doing this is a sure path to failure in any endeavor. If there is "busy work" to get done, make sure it is done after the major projects are done.
