Prioritize Your Day to Build a Successful Home Business

Effective time management and prioritizing your time seem like such boring topics that have nothing to do with building a home business.  They certainly don't seem as "sexy" as online marketing.  It may seem boring but prioritizing your time is essential to create a successful business. 

Creating a daily agenda ensures that you put the "big rocks" in first.  Big rocks?  What big rocks?  Imagine you are given a pile of rocks and sand and told to put them into a large jar.  How would you put them in?  To ensure that you get the big rocks in, put them in the jar first and then put the smaller rocks and put in the sand last. 

The jar is your day.  Every morning you are given 24 hours to use any way you want.  Your big rocks are the tasks that get you closer to your goal.  Your big rocks could include the following:

- Time with family and friends
- Personal development - reading books, listening to cd's
- Spiritual practices - prayer, meditating, reading spiritual books, worshipping with a spiritual community
- Marketing - income generating activities
- Training - Webinars and training calls
- Coaching & training team members

You must schedule the time to do these tasks.  If you don't, other tasks will take priority and then you won't achieve your goals.  Use a daily planner or an online system like Outlook and stick with it.  Schedule your big rocks first and then add other activities.  Plan your day the evening before so that in the morning you know exactly what your priority is for the day. 

Also, when you block off the time to do income generating activities, do not respond to phone calls or check your emails.  Focus on your priority activities and do not multitask.  As you do you will notice that you are more productive and accomplish more.  As you perform more income generating activities you will make more sales.  As your sales increase, you are creating the successful online business of your dreams.
