Short Term and Long Term Goals.

I agree with you, Rallie. Setting goals is a key component in achieving success in anything.

I believe in setting both short term and long term goals. I also believe in visualization when I set goals. I visualize me accomplishing the goal. The more I visualize this, the more I believe that I can achieve the goal, no matter how difficult it may seem at first. I'm not sure if that is clear. But it sure works for me.

Great article, Rallie.

Seen With Real Eyes

"Goals Don’t Need to Be Written—I'll remember" Only partially true! One has to see their goals in writing to make them real. There 's something about seeing those words with real eyes not just the ones in your imagination.

As I look at my goals on the wall in front of me, I know where I want to go, short and long term. One shouldn't poo poo this exercise as not important.

Of all the myths presented here, I believe it to be the one with the most visual impact.

Visualizing Our Goals

I agree with Scott and Marie, that visualizing our goals make them real.

I do feel achieving short term goals gives us the encouragement to continue reaching our long term goal. And when we reach our long term. goal, we'll be ready to set new goals for our self.

frequent reviews with flexibility.

Lots of good points, you have to have a plan before you can review it. If what you are doing is not moving you towards your goals, make appropriate changes. Be consistent, yet flexible and don't give up.

"If you have no plan, you plan to fail."

Over the holidays I had a customer of mine say that he believed that goals were only 10% of his business. I personally found that interesting because I see my goals has being at least 60% of mine. Without the vision and the plan I don't know how one can stay focused.

You providing people with these tens reasons for goal setting is proof that they are critical to success.

Excellent reality check.
