Time Management In Your Internet Home Business

My entire life was based on corporate responsibilities and managing my time to make sure I was getting everything done. When I entered the Online Marketing world and my new Home Business, I felt that one of my strong points was the ability to stay focused and on task.. I am here to tell you that it is much harder than you think when you work from home and have the freedom to do exactly what you want to do.

The biggest concerns are the distractions to your time and staying focused. It starts with setting aside a few hours to really think about what you want to accomplish. Make a list of the tasks that you need to do on a daily basis and set an amount of time that seems to allow you to cover that task..

Examples, (these examples relate to an Internet Marketing Home Business)

Personal Enrichment Reading (1 hour)

Personal Health, walking, working out, etc.. (30 minutes)

Adding content to your blog.. (15 minutes)

Adding followers to Twitter.. (20 minutes)

Working with Facebook.. (20 minutes)

PPC AdWords, Keyword work.. (45 minutes)

Phone calls.. (45 minutes)

Email out/in.. (45 minutes)

YouTube Video's.. (60 minutes)

Training & Webinars.. (90 minutes)

Motivational calls, like John Jackson.. (15 minutes)

Meals.. (60 minutes)

Article writing.. (30 minutes)

This list isn't everything but it does cover a great chunk of the daily work load. As you can see, the day can be very busy and not having your time blocked and set aside to accomplish your goals, you are soon off to something else and missing out on growing your business properly.

I have worked hard at setting my calendar and sticking to it. I prefer to use Google Calendars to maintain my work flow. This is not an article to promote Google, (They do that enough). I use the Free accounts that I also use as my email foundation.. The benefits of Google mail/calendar are many and will be discussed in a follow up article on email basics.

The Google calendar system allows you to enter one of the tasks from above and block that time off on your calendar. You can then ask it to repeat the task for every day or just Monday - Wed- Fri if you choose. Then set it to repeat with no stop date. This means you have a foundation of your work load that repeats itself every week based on what you have established as your goals and priorities. If you decide you need to expand or decrease the amount of time for each task, you can make that change once and let it flow through the calendar. You also get the benefit of setting up reminders.. Reminders come in the form of emails, beeps and or text messages, set to remind you how ever many minutes you want in advance.

The final blessing for using the Google Calendar system is that you can send it to your smart phone as well and have the same calendar working in all locations.. Need to make a doctors appointment, schedule a call while away from your office, no problem just plug it in on your smart phone and it replicates through the system.
