Why We Need To Set Goals
Sometime ago I was walking on the beach were I lived and I notice something that inspired me to write about and I hope it will inspire many of you.
Next time you go out walking try walking in an area such as the beach or some piece of dirt that will leave footprints. While walking, look down at your feet and stop to look behind you. You will notice that most people path is somewhat crooked.
However, I found that when you set your site on a faraway object and move towards that specific object or desire direction, my footprints became straighter.
The above analogy I referred to is reminiscent of how some people direct their life path.
Everybody’s goals are uniquely different and specific to that person. Nevertheless, in a well-lived life, you will find setting goals will give your life clarity and purpose.
Most people fail for one reason or another to develop specific goals in life. Goals give us purpose and direction. It give me a since of accomplishments and satisfaction that I have achieve something. Goals give us wings to dream bigger, to do more and want to help others achieve more.
Setting goals has nothing to do with wealth or prestige. It has everything to do with fulfilling the purpose for being here on earth. We are all born with a purpose and most of us will live a life in obscurity when we compare our success to others. However, to compare ourselves to others is a foolish endeavor. We cannot measure up to another person because we are uniquely, wonderfully, made.
If you ever feel discourage remember that no one is like you and you are a masterpiece waiting to be revealed. It does not matter how old you are or where you live, we are important. Most people can exceed beyond their expectation if they insist on it.
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies with in us” …..Emerson
Set your proverbial sail to the direction of your goal and live a life worth living.
Finally, “Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:13-14
