Female Entrepreneurs How To Get Rid Of The Negative Thoughts In Your Head And Be Your Unstoppable You
Last night I was working on a book I have decided to write and I noticed myself slipping into a familiar old habit. I was having a block while writing and the first thing my mind wanted to do was let negative old voices or the ego in.
As female entrepreneurs we need to learn how to get rid of the negative thoughts in your head to be your unstoppable you.
I had gone from feeling optimistic and relaxed to feeling sad and upset and I started to get distracted. Here is what I was telling myself, “this is a waste of time, and nobody is going to read this anyway. You’re never going to finish this.”
Ouch! Those were some tough negative thoughts. I wasn’t done though telling myself, “crap” there was more but I’ll save you from the self-defeating gory details.
We all have our own favorites we resort back to like,
“I don’t have enough money.”
“This will never work.” - One of my husband’s favorites.
“I’m not _____ enough.” Fill in the blank – smart, pretty, strong, educated, funny, experienced etc.
So why do I share this with you and how does this help us become highly successful female entrepreneurs? Because we all go through times that as we stretch beyond our comfort zone, we start to get nervous and our mind will try to protect us from what it considers, “dangerous.”
But where is the real danger for female entrepreneurs? To stay stuck!
The negative voices or ego will want to keep us stuck in our comfort zone, where we are safe in the familiar. Female entrepreneurs, our goals and dreams are in the “danger zone,” the unfamiliar. The real danger is listening to the negative voices or ego and believing that they are true.
Did you know that just because the thought came to your mind doesn’t mean it’s true and that we don’t have to be a victim to it? I didn’t always know that I had the power and control to change my negative inner voice. We all do. As a Successful female entrepreneur we have to take control.
How do we take control?
Know it’s normal, understanding your ego is powerful. Knowing that what we are telling ourselves is based in fear and not reality. So last night when the negative voices came into my mind, I stopped what I was doing, closed my eyes, pictured the negative voice as a cartoonish devil sitting on my shoulder and said to him, “I know that is not true. I know that is fear talking.” Then I replaced it with positive thoughts and remembered the times that I had been successful.
Some people visualize it as a gremlin or a chatty bird sitting on their shoulder. Some people give it a name. Learn what works for you. Then give the voice something positive to say. For example if the voice says, “I’m not smart enough,” then change the script to something that you can believe and is positive like, “as of today I am smart enough,” or “I am getting smarter each and every day.”
I found the hardest part is identifying the negative voice. Sometimes the idea has gotten so ingrained in us since childhood that we believe the thought is true. We all have our own unique greatness in us.
We would love to hear your comments and learn how you have dealt with the negative inner voice in your head. Leave us a comment below and share your wisdom.
