Have What It Takes To Become A Successful Entrepreneur?
Eight Characteristics of a Successful Entrepreneur . . .
If you aren't seeing the results you want for your networking business, then it's a good idea to stop for a little self-assessment. You will find the eight characteristics of a successful entrepreneur listed below. Simply compare yourself with these characteristics to learn where you are falling short . . . then develop a personal development plan of action that will allow you to evolve to a higher level of expertise.
Remember . . . successful network marketers work on themselves more than they work on their business!
#1 – A Successful Entrepreneur is a Worker . . .
Successful entrepreneurs are hard workers willingly dedicating the energy required to reach defined goals. They are self-motivated to succeed. They will be constantly in motion as they pursue their goals . . . by design and with intent. They never give up.
#2 – A Successful Entrepreneur is a Sharer . . .
The successful entrepreneur understands that sharing knowledge increases their value in the marketplace. The more they share . . . the more valuable and successful they will become. Not only do they share knowledge . . . but their wealth and time as well. Because they are hard workers . . . they may seem to be everywhere at once sharing what they have learned . . . their success stories.
Their energy and willingness to share increases others awareness of them. In fact, the more they work and share . . . the more attention they generate. They are in fact evolving into the leaders others want to follow . . . and follow they will.
Sharers are not afraid to reveal “insider information” because they know a secret. The secret is that only 3% of the people following are truly paying attention and seeking to become successful entrepreneurs themselves. [Ironic isn’t it! With a clear path to success laid out in front of them most people will not use the information shared by the successful entrepreneur.]
#3 – A Successful Entrepreneur is a Good Manager . . .
The successful entrepreneur manages all aspects of life . . . specifically time and money.
By scheduling and planning a successful entrepreneur is able to balance family time, community service time and work time . . . plus make the balancing act look easy.
The successful entrepreneur takes the time to plan at least a week ahead . . . making daily schedules and “task lists” to help them stay on track. Due to their advance planning, they are able to reduce distractions that can cause them to stray from their overall goals.
They always know the status of their business endeavors . . . where the money is coming from and where it is going. A successful entrepreneur budgets in order to stay on track and they invest to insure the future.
#4 – A Successful Entrepreneur is an Investor . . .
Not be confused with financial investments . . . this successful entrepreneur characteristic is all about investing in self-improvement (personal development) as well as making prudent investments in business resources, services and tools needed to advance their business interests.
Since most of us are not born entrepreneurs, there are always things to be learned . . . things to advance us toward our goals. The successful entrepreneur will spend what it takes in order to insure goals are reached.
#5 – A Successful Entrepreneur is a Hunter . . .
Successful entrepreneurs are good hunters. Because they operate with a plan of action and the intent to succeed, they always have in mind what their business needs in order to reach the next level. They aggressively hunt for what they need.
- When they need more customers and distributors . . . they hunt for more leads for their pipeline.
- When then need more activity in the downline in order to win a contest or to reach the next bonus level . . . they increase group and one-on-one interaction with team members.
A successful entrepreneur is always on the hunt for the next thing needed in order to achieve a goal . . . and they are passionate about their mission.
#6 – A Successful Entrepreneur is Coachable . . .
An important characteristic of a successful entrepreneur is . . . they are coachable. They willingly seek out the help needed in order to reach their goals. They are as open to criticism as they are to praise. In fact, constructive criticism is what they need in order to learn and to evolve to the next level of success.
Remember, your leaders, mentors and coaches have already walked the path to success. Their experiences prepared them to spot potential and to nurture it. If you find yourself resistant to input from those more successful then you, consider the following questions . . .
- Are you blocking your path to success?
- If so, what do you need in order to change?
#7 – A Successful Entrepreneur Participates in Mastermind Groups . . .
This characteristic is critical for success! A successful entrepreneur masterminds with like minded people.
It is difficult to achieve success if you are sitting alone at your PC with the expectation that success will soon come your way. Instead, get out of your home office . . . and surround yourself with people who are working on similar projects . . . people who have similar interests . . . similar goals. Seek out people to mastermind with by:
- Attending local, regional and national primary company events . . . and
- Attending training and networking events like the upcoming No Excuses Summit 3.
Forming mastermind groups with people met at these events provides the support, energy and accountability that leads to success.
#8 – A Successful Entrepreneur Associations with the Right People . . .
Last . . . but far from least . . . evaluate your current associations. Interacting with the right people is critical to your success. If the people around you on a daily basis are negative . . . unmotivated . . . stuck in a rut . . . you need to move on. This is sometimes difficult because these people are often family members and friends.
However, it's important to recognize when people are holding you back and to make the necessary adjustments. That doesn't mean you completely neglect them . . . but it does mean you incorporate more people who are leaders, mentors and coaches into your life (see #7 A Successful Entrepreneur Participates in Mastermind Groups above). These are the people who will help you achieve the level of success you desire.
