Stop Telling me Your Story!

In my last post I wrote about the need to stop flaunting 'Your Story' and start genuinely getting interested in a blueprint that would help others build up their own stories.

 I got a private message from a young man who criticized my attempt at changing the mindset that one has to shove one's story down another person's throat before they will be listened to.

 Now, understand that when I write these notes I dont have anyone in mind. From my day-to-day business activities I see things that need correction and other times encouragement and I choose to offer my insights.

 Like they say in 'The Apprentice', It's nothing personal, it's just business.

 From my experience I have come to see that most people flaunt their credentials out of the need to tell prospects they are good enough. They tell their stories to impress people.

 Your prospects do not care if you generate 140 leads per day. They dont care if you have one of the islands of Maldives to yourself. They dont care if you are a multiple 8 figure income earner.

 Like my friend Ryan Biddulph said "Your monetary accomplishments are nice but making money does not necessarily have anything to do with helping others. I know some who are masters at parting fools from their money."

 They are asking 'How can you help me?'', 'What blueprint and guidelines do you have to get me out of my present emotional and financial bankruptcy?'

 They are wondering like one of my prospects I chatted with on skype did 'Is it not possible that all these gurus are making money off poor people like us?'

 So you see, they have heard the stories of the gurus over and over again, and they have been burnt many times over. Why then should they listen to you and your story? Let go of the fear of “have I accomplished enough? let me tell them one more time,” or “I WILL convince the skeptics that I am good enough.”

 The many stories they have heard and read, not backed up with a genuine need to guide them, have ended them in worse conditions.

 They are telling you 'I dont wanna hear those stories no more. I wanna know the blueprint you have that if followed is sure to get me out of this broke, frustrating and suicide-prone condition of mine?'
