Be Thankful for Turkey Chasers!
As we come to this Thanksgiving Holiday, its a good time to sit back and be thankful to all of those around us and everything that we are blessed with in our life. Be thankful for the breath you take, the good company around us, and the businesses that we are building.
So for the topic of the day, I wanted to address how you are going about building your business and some key thought processes that you want to keep in mind.
Regardless of what you are promoting, its important to keep your customer first in your mind. Instead of leading with a bunch of benefits of how great your company/product/service is, dig deeper to determine what need you can fill. This may require a little bit more work on your side, but the trade off will be a lot less frustrating for your bottom line.
Not only will this help you appeal better to the emotional need of your potential customer but it will also allow you to stand out from 95% of the crowd that is just pitching their goods. As many a successful business person has said, find out what the masses are doing and do something different. Invite yourself into the 5% crowd through your actions that you take and the principles that you stand for.
Remember, that you want to attract others to you. Think back to when you were in the dating game, the harder that you tried to get the person of your desires, the further away they became. The same universal concept works in business. When you try too hard, you come across as desperate and needy. Who wants to listen to someone coming from that position? Instead position yourself as a person of value, share your knowledge, your experience, your insights.
Regardless, if you think you have shortcomings, we all do, be yourself and give without want. Through time and consistency of sharing, you will have enough content out there to validate who you are and what you stand for. Like attracts like, and you will attract the person that you are to your business. Always work on getting better and share what you learn. This process may take longer, but will have a much greater long-term value.
Those that are chasing turkeys and pitching their business every step of the way without establishing themselves first will make it that much easier for you to shine from the masses. Be thankful for them and know that you are doing the right thing.
