Magnetic Sponsoring: Breakthrough Or BUNK?

Read More: Law of Attraction

Mike Dillard has popularized a term that has become quite popular in MLM/Network Marketing circles. The term Attraction Marketing refers to developing a mindset that draws people to you and your home-based business opportunity. The alternative that causes untold suffering for most MLM distributors is the distasteful task of recruiting from a limited circle of friends and family.

Jesus said "A prophet is not welcome in his own land" because in your own circle of influence, people have preconceptions and a bias about you. Unless you've been successful in the past, they remember your history of failures more clearly than your history of successes.

The most frightening words any new network marketer will ever hear are, "make a list of 100 of your friends, family, and business contacts and call them". This can be a great exercise and it can bear fruit, but there is an easier way than chasing after people who already know you.

Think about this example: what happens when a guy chases relentlessly after a woman for a date? She RUNS from him. What happens when a sales man is desperate to close a sale? The prospect senses his desperation and is repelled. The same thing happens when an MLM distributor pursues a prospect so they can make it to the next level of the compensation or because they need the money: the prospect flees!

What would it take to have prospects pursue YOU? How could you become the hunted, rather than the hunter?

The same principle applies as in the example I used above. You may have had the experience of having something really great happen to you when you were least expecting it. It's not uncommon to hear about a guy who starts getting more interest from women as soon as he stops looking for a date. When a salesman projects an air of indifference or nonchalance about whether you buy his product or not, it makes you want the product more. And we've all heard about couples who finally get pregnant the moment they stop trying so hard.

What is this strange phenomenon? Why is it that why have trouble getting the things we really want, the things we try hardest to get? One school of thought is that you unconsciously repel the things you want. Let me explain. If you want something, it's because you don't have it. After all, if you had the thing you want you wouldn't have to "want" it, right?

Here's another way of looking at it: we only want things we don't have. If you want more distributors, you are unconsciously holding it in your mind that you don't have enough. If you're convinced that you don't have enough distributors, then you CAN'T have enough distributors.

The bottom line is that you can't have both things at the same time. You can't have enough and NOT have enough at the same time. It's like darkness and light. They can't both exist in the same place at the same time.

The key to building a thriving Network Marketing downline is to do the things that you need to do (phone calls, blog posts, recruiting and training activities) but don't be attached to the outcome. Don't do them because you don't have enough. Do them because they produce predictable results when you do them.

Concern yourself more with the process than with the outcome of your efforts. If you enjoy the process and if you "telegraph" a sense that you don't need any one in particular to join your downline, people will wonder what it is you enjoy so much about your business and they'll want to join you because you'll be having fun.

This simple shift in your mindset will make you a master of Attraction Marketing and will put you miles ahead of your competition, no matter which network marketing company you represent.
