What Qualities To Look For in a Good Leader
So yesterday I mentioned the importance of finding a leader someone you would want to follow and has been where you want to go!
So what qualities would you look for in a leader? What makes a leader a leader?
The definition of a leader is one who casts a strong and compelling vision and inspires others to take on that vision and bring it to fruition.
So it is a good idea not to rush into any business opportunity until you have seen and heard the vision any particular leader is casting. Attend any events that the leader is putting on and measure the leader to the qualities I outline below.
A good leader always believes in his team, and projects that belief into the heart of the team member such that it brings out the very best in that person. In fact that person will end up doing far more than they ever felt possible.
see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyPkUXGq1S0 this clip from "Facing The Giants" that illustrates this very well.
A leader leads from the front doing everything first that he expects his team to do later. A leader is able to teach others to teach so they can in turn inspire their team to fulfil the vision!
A leader is able to communicate and demonstrate clearly and precisely from experience how to be successful and he leads his team and his team follows because they believe that they too can do what the leader does! A leader enjoys the success of his team members enormously and quickly gives recognition to any achievement the team member makes.
A leader always speaks positively and is always excited about the vision for his business, always speaks well of the company, the support system, the products and his team! A good leader gives honor and respect to everyone.
A leader will have a strong internet presence, have a blog that offers a lot of value and resources. A good leader is well read, looks smart and is an excellent communicator. A good leader never wastes any time and earns the respect of his time. A good leader is always busy, working hard and passionately on fulfilling the vision that is cast. A good leader gets up early and works late and turns up for all team meetings and events.
A good leader is approachable and always willing to go the extra mile to help his team and is eager to see each one of his team succeed. A good leader knows how to leverage his time well so that the vision reaches as many as possible at any one time. A leader is always willing to learn and grow and has an unquenchable thirst for more knowledge to fulfill the vision and constantly searches for ways to improve the business on all fronts.
A good leader guards his reputation as if his very life depends on it because it does! A good leader will always empower his team so that they are fully equipped to fulfill the vision. The leader never does the work for them or pays their way but instead teaches them how to do the business, fully utilizing the business system to leverage the leader’s time to the maximum.
There is no perfect leader, to judge well is to work out several things…does this leader inspire you? Does what this leader say motivate you into action? Does the vision excite you to your core? Are you eager to get into action? Do you believe that this leader will continue to add value for the long term and does this leader believe in you? If yes then I would act quickly, sign up and work hard – your success awaits you!
