5 Ways To Not Duplicate Yourself!

Read More: Leadership

1 . Confuse activity with productivity.

During your productive hours no email,

surfing the web, small talk, taking phone

calls that are not business related...there

are many more time wasters.

2. Over manage the people you bring into the business.

Help them...point them, never drag them to success!

3. Too many details on your product or service.

People want to know can I do this, and can you

help me.

4. Being the expert.

If you are, your team will wait

to become that expert too before they begin.

5. Get attached to your teammates success.

You can help them (if coachable), but you

cannot make them do the work.

1. Lead by example.

Be in the game yourself, building your business

with the same tools you give your teammates.

2. Be there for your teammates.

Not just lip service, too many say they will be

there, but once they get someone in, they leave

them like a fish out of water gasping for air!

3. Connect with people.

Treat people like people not just numbers.

4. Give people room to grow.

Don't smoother them, everyone learns

at a different pace. Some are more afraid

than others...give them time to bloom!

5. Have a duplicatable system that anyone

can do.

You may do video's, write articles and great

notes...not everyone wants to do that, so

make sure you have something for them to

be successful with.

#4 can be a hard one...

...to keep in mind: "Give people room to grow. Don't smoother them, everyone learns at a different pace. Some are more afraid than others...give them time to bloom!" Remember that the true strength of a team is in utilizing the diverse talents, skills, and knowledge of its members to their fullest; and that is best accomplished by giving each member 'room to run'. The leader's value is in directing the team's energy toward a goal. Superb post, Alice!

Don't Confuse Activity with Productivity

I find I stay busy, busy, busy some days and at the end of the day I still didn't get anything done. Checking our email 100x a day and organizing our notebooks isn't really working. It's calling our leads and adding value to our team and the marketplace that are really going to make the difference. Great work, Alice!

Activity and Productivity....

....can sometimes feel like the same thing. But ask yourself "Did I accomplish something that someone else will benefit from?" If the answer is no the chances are you were only active. Thanks Alice

Right on Target Alice!

Such a good list, short and sweet, simple and true - if we just carry this list we can't miss!

Thanks for a great post Alice!

Find your niche.

I especially like your point about allowing everyone to grow at their pace and to not try and fit them into the box you are in, but to help them find their own niche. And that is the beauty of a team effort, everyone has different things to bring to the table. Thanks Alice! I appreciate your words of wisdom.
