Be the Messenger, Not the Message!

Robert Kiyosaki has always said in his books that business is a team sport. Network Marketing is ESPECIALLY a team sport.

Recently, on a training call hosted by Art Jonak, I heard the story of Orjan Saele. Orjan is a 7 figure network marketing superstar that you've never heard of.

He's from Norway. Norway is not a big country, and network marketing is far from being a way of life there (at least compared to North America, or Australia).

What's impressive about his feat is that he's built an organisation totaling 5% of the entire nation's population! He's has the biggest downline in Scandinavia.

Orjan became a network marketer at age 17. His first 4 years were utter frustration. Having spent 25 hours per week building his business and spending $25,000, his return on investment was just $300!

He was so fed up that he was on the verge of quitting. He was going to study at university and get himself a real job.

When asked about what went wrong in the first 4 years, Orjan explained that he massively struggled because he wasn't part of a team. He tried to build the business all by himself.

He had no education, had no idea what the business, or the industry was about. He didn't go to any events, didn't have any training, weren't on conference calls and had no clue on how to do it.

Instead he spent a lot of money printing his own brochures, tried to create his own system, holding meetings over and over again with people who didn't want to be part his business.

Just as he was about to give up, he came across a piece of paper where he had written a clear, specific goal of earning $200,000 in his 21st year.

Realising that he was never going to achieve the level of income he had set for himself no matter how far he progressed in a "real job", he decided to have one more crack at the business.

This time, he plugged into the team, sought the advice of leaders and promoted a product he could understand. He went ALL IN, and within a relatively short time frame, he missed his goal only by a couple of thousand dollars.

My point in sharing this wonderful story is you can't do this business on your own. You must have a team of people working with you.

Oil magnate J. Paul Getty once said: "I would rather have one percent of the efforts of 100 people than 100 percent of my own efforts."

I believe network marketing is ultimate epitome of that statement. Network Marketing will always be about the collective efforts of many people creating success together. That's what's so great about our industry.

People who try to be "the system" ultimately fail.

It's not just your own methods and results that count, but how it works with your team.

As Randy Gage says "You need to be the messenger, not the message."

For instance... for sure, you can sponsor someone by being an SEO expert, and learning some highly specialised skill that only you can do. But how's that going to play out for the new guy?

For sure, you can attract people to you by bragging about how you earn an extra $30,000/month with 2,000 names on your email list. But that's not a situation everybody has.

That will work really well for you, but it's not going to work for someone who is brand new to your business.

When you are "it", when it's all you, when you are the message, that's not going to provide you with the freedom you want, because when you stop building the business, the business will stagnate.

In sport, a "champion team" will always beat a "team of champions". Build a Champion Team.
