Censorship in Network Marketing?
I found it incredulous! And if I had not seen the emails, I would have dismissed it as rumours and nonsense.
Over the past forty-eight hours, apparently three of the key executive management from two of the most successful Network Marketing firms, and five top producers from three other companies, have circulated emails to their “heavy-hitters”, warning them to encourage their downline to not read Networking Reinvented or The Rhino Stampede blogs. And in three of the emails, specific warnings about the “information contained in the Networking Reinvented webinar system” – presumably either our webinar-on-demand system (http://webinar3.com) or my personal invitation that was supposed to be reserved to select market segments internationally (http://networkingreinvented.com/tlc) have been the cause of all this stir.
What troubles me is that there is no derogatory information on those sites, and we simply take a look at the industry as it is today.
In fact, those who have been part of my live webinars and training programs know that I tell folks right off the bat that they should approach their network marketing business the same way they approach sound real estate investment. It is a mistake, as any successful real estate investor will confirm, for you to become emotionally attached to a property. The property is a vehicle for wealth accumulation… an investment. As long as the return on investment is sound, it makes sense to hold onto it, when the time is right, you sell it and move on. In Network Marketing, a company and more specifically, the company’s product(s) are nothing more than a vehicle for wealth accumulation as well. If the return on investment is good, then it makes sense to stay the course. If not, then you have to ask yourself if you are allowing yourself to be manipulated by smooth-talking motivational “experts” whose income depends on conning you into staying around with your overpriced autoship orders, so that THEY can preserve their wealth, while you put yourself further and further from that attainment.
Seems to me that any company that was founded on integrity would welcome my videos and blogs. And if their compensation plans really do look out for the masses, then they should be able to withstand the scrutiny of someone who has consistently produced more successful entrepreneurs in a half dozen companies than most networkers ever have in their entire uplines. And that is why, I maintain, that the so-called binary-hybrid deals are three of the five companies that are urging their leaders to do damage control.
It’s not my intention to ruin anyone’s income. I have friends and colleagues involved in binary-hybrid programs, and I don’t want to see them do anything but succeed. They know I think they are foolish for remaining with a company that uses such an awful compensation plan, and they know for a fact that I could show them how to double their income by applying better business principles to their operations, but they are not the kind of folks who possess the acumen for real business investing, and they are afraid to jeopardise what they have. It would be insensitive and wrong for me to dismiss them, just because they are afraid of losing what they have now.
I’ve built a seven figure income twice in my life, and twice, lost it due to catastrophic medical conditions. So losing what I have has never been a worry for me, because I know how to rebuild it… I know what really made me the money, and it wasn’t the company, or the comp plan… it wasn’t the products… and it certainly wasn’t the upline (sadly)… it was the system and the approach to business.
I know it’s unpopular to do so, but I will maintain that until the perfect network marketing company exists – a company doing business in a minimum of 70 countries, with less than $100 start-up, less than $50/monthly production or autoship requirements, no costs for promotional websites/lead systems, and a fully automated on-demand recruiting and retailing system – then I will not invest 100% of my time or efforts into a single company.
It’s no secret that I do very well with Pre-Paid Legal Services, because I don’t promote the business from a Network Marketing perspective. I never sell their “fast start” option, and don’t rely on hype, hotel meetings or any of the other traditional MLM nonsense to build a business. And as a result, the average person joining my group in the United States and Canada earns about $700-$900 their first two weeks, without even having invested $100 in their business. And of course, it’s successful, because folks never have to spend more than $26/month to maintain their businesses.
But Pre-Paid Legal only operates in the United States and Canada, and I am an international entrepreneur… so the don’t have my full attention.
My international group, The Rhino Stampede, does business around the world in the health and wellness field, and also consistently affords new associates with a chance to earn between $700-$1100 in their first two to three weeks with us. But like all wellness companies, the company unfortunately has an autoship requirement, which I make no secret about being opposed to, so it does cost money to start-up your business ($140-$190 depending on where you are in the world), and that is the monthly cost of doing business as well. Fortunately, the compensation plan is head-and-shoulders better than any wellness company in existence today, and so our average reps are able to earn close to $5K within their first six to eight weeks in the business, and everyone breaks even their first 3-5 days, by introducing just two or three new people. I would have avoided working in the wellness field, because of the historical issues that wellness companies have with others “stealing” their ideas and introducing similar grocery store products, as we’ve seen with Motts introducing a “gel nutritional” product, or the many noni, mangosteen, acai fruit drinks out there today; but this company (TLC) has a global exclusive, and their energy drink product is actually priced competitively with grocery store brands, without the sugar or other harmful ingredients.
Let’s face it… the scamsters, front-end loaders and self-absorbed “let me tell you all about me” types have already given Network Marketing a black eye. We don’t need to waste our time bashing one another’s companies. And companies, it seems to me, would be better off looking at why their businesses are missing the mark, instead of telling their key leaders to beware of my blogs!! That’s insane (not to mention free publicity for me!)
I mean, let’s face it… when you were a kid, and your mom told you not to look at something, what was the FIRST thing you did? Me too!
