How NOT to Motivate a Sales Force! (Who IS This Guy??)
Ok, lately I have found myself perusing this website more and more. I have been a member for quite awhile now, but today I just couldn't let this go...
Like many of you, I have been involved in a number of home based businesses, network marketing companies, and even traditional businesses. I am 32 years old and haven't had a "boss" since April of 2003. Throughout my life, also like you, I have picked up on a number of core truths and incorporated them into my belief system.

How can someone honestly believe that they are an effective leader when they put people down and slap them in the face? We have all heard of or personally encountered that $*^##! individual who thinks that, because they are in charge, they can tell people what to do, how to do it, and what will happen to you if you don't do it.
I can somewhat understand this in the traditional employer-employee relationship (although, it is still NOT effective). But when you are trying to lead and motivate a sales force of independent contractors, none of whom you actually pay a wage or salary (all are 100% commission-based), how can you expect ANYBODY to do what you want when degrade and belittle them, even if it is indirectly?
My point is this... I listened to a recording from earlier today of a CEO conducting his weekly sales meeting. This is a sales force of independent contractors who MAKE THIS CEO $$ EVERY SINGLE DAY!! Now, for whatever reason, this CEO decides to "streamline his operation" and threaten to CUT 80% OF HIS SALES FORCE!!

I am beside myself! I pity this poor guy because he could actually help hundreds (or even thousands) of reps and clients to add substantial sums of money to their bottom lines; yet he obviously doesn't have a CLUE as to how to motivate people-especially those of us who are self-employed.
I wanted to post this to the BN forum and ask for feedback. I have posted a 9:17 audio file to my personal blog and would like to get some feedback. I created a poll to see if I am crazy or not. I also attempted to upload this podcast to the BN community, but it kept giving me an error.
So, what constructive criticism would you provide to this CEO if you were a part of his sales force? After listening to this quick audio, do you think I am over-reacting? Do you agree with what he says?
